Kilmovee Community First Responders – Who We Are & What We Do.
We are all Volunteers and do not receive any payments for our services or time rendered. Currently we have 12 fully trained Volunteers on call. They are trained to the highest standards in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, defibrillation, chest pain, stroke and foreign body airway obstruction. Our area of operation is: – Co. Mayo - Kilmovee, Urlaur, Tavurn areas. Co. Roscommon:- – Lisacul, Loughlynn, Brosna, Gorthaganny, Castlemore areas and the outskirts of Ballaghaderreen town. We are on call 24/7 and respond to life threatening emergencies on receipt of 112/999 calls from the National Emergency Operations Centre. A minimum of 2 Volunteers attend emergency call outs, with up to 5/6 Volunteers responding as a team in the event of cardiac arrest emergencies.
Our aim is to provide a service in the local area, by rapid response in reaching potential life threatening emergencies in the first vital minutes and endeavour to preserve life, until the ambulance crew arrives at the scene. Our role is to help stabilise the patients, provide appropriate care, where applicable and administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as required until the highly skilled ambulance crew take over. All our Volunteers are equipped with the most modern up-to-date equipment and medical accessories to ensure a professional service is administered to patients.
We supply, install defibrillators and heated cabinets in our local area of operation, where deemed necessary. All defibrillators and cabinets are registered on the National Data Base. They are checked and recorded weekly by a Volunteer, batteries are replaced as required and necessary maintenance is carried out. The purchase of mannequins, training aids and equipment is required for the continued training of our Volunteers. Administration costs in renting the community hall for meetings, training etc. and Third Party Public Liability Insurance incurs additional expenses, in addition to the extremely high costs of defibrillators, heated cabinets and installation of the same.
We are a non-profit Organisation and rely solely on donations and sponsorship from the local community in order to survive and carry out our operation is a professional and efficient manner. Without the loyal services and dedication of our Volunteers attending callouts and weekly training we could not continue to run our operation.
Likewise, without the generous sponsorship and donations from the local community our operation could not exist. Should you kindly consider to sponsor or donate to Kilmovee Community First Responders your generosity will be received with thanks and appreciation.
