Check out these master pieces....hats of to John and his helpers....sown from seed and grown carefully and nurtured at Clonakilty Community Garden. Supported by the Tús community employment work initiative, this has brought a fabulous harvest and some beautiful autumnal colour. They are proving very popular on display and for sale at the Clonakilty Friday Market or by contacting John. All proceeds will be put back into the Community Garden in Clonakilty. If you would like to find out about how to purchase one of these beautiful organic pumpkins, get in contact with us here at [email protected] or 0238834035 and we'll share the contact details.

The AONTAS STAR Awards 2027 are now open for nominations. The awards recognise and celebrate outstanding adult learning initiatives from across Ireland and highlight the positive impact that community education, lifelong learning and inclusion projects have on individuals and communities.

Many ESF+ funded projects and organisations are delivering valuable work that supports learners, promotes social inclusion, improves wellbeing and creates opportunities for participation and progression. The STAR Awards provide an excellent opportunity to showcase this work and gain national recognition.

We encourage beneficiaries not only to share this opportunity within their networks, but also to consider submitting a nomination themselves.

Initiatives can be nominated under the following categories:
• Health & Wellbeing
• Third-Level Access & Engagement
• Social Inclusion
• Social Change
• Global Citizenship Education
• Learner Voice

No initiative is too big or too small. If your project is making a positive difference in the lives of adult learners, we encourage you to apply.

Some photos of a beautiful wedge tomb in Kilbronogue c 2000 BC which up until recently had been covered by overgrowth.

The site has been cleared and there is now an accessible pathway of 225 metres from the road.

This clearance work was carried out by Rural Social Scheme workers on the Mizen Peninsula here in west Cork recently.

It is now well signposted and has been the subject of great interest with many people visiting the site.

Just what everyone needed .....permission to pause and .....connect with your inner silence.

West Cork Development Partnership had a great start to .

Jimeve part of our wonderful Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme team kindly hosted a free sound bath to kick things off and like the ones that have gone before ....it went down an absolute treat.

This is supported under the SICAP (Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme).

The benefits of sound healing include: Stress reduction, better sleep and increased mental clarity. Inviting deeper awareness and relaxation from the calming sounds and vibrations that soothe the nervous system. Thank you Jimeve and thank you to the participants, it was fab-u-lous!
