GREEN CHRISTMAS.
So we’re asking everyone to start considering Christmas and see what each household and business can do to make this happen. Packaging, plastic and lights come to mind immediately as do local food produce, shop local and using public transport and car pooling. Gifts play a major part and using vouchers for local businesses as presents would be a real help to greening Christmas.
Or what about Gifting Experiences, and maybe the easiest and perhaps the most appreciated gift of all – our time. Take time out to visit someone you should be seeing more often, especially an older person or someone living alone

Christmas Swim Pics
The Ardmore Christmas Swim is asking anyone who has photos or videos of the Christmas Swim going back the years that they might share with their facebookpage. . This year is going to be the 30 year, and Siobhán is trying to put a collage together. There’s a post on the Swim page. And there may well be interesting photos of Christmas swims back in the 70s and early 80s which would add to the collection.

Split The Pot.
Our winners last week were Daniel & Christine Collins, who won €137 and that is €137 for Ardmore School as well.
Thanks also to all who put their €2 into the envelopes and all those who distributed and collected envelopes and especially the couple of parents who keep this draw going, week in, week out

ONLY Written submissions about The Ardmore Town Centre Plans will be considered – they must be in before October 30th & they can be done by post to:
Michael Quinn, Director of Economic Development, No.35 The Mall, Waterford City, X91 DN23. Or online to: consult.waterfordcouncil.ie.
I have many people say that most of these changes are totally unnecessary as the extra parking in Keevers Field over the last couple of summers has made a huge difference to street traffic and there’s no doubt the new road & parking at the beach without doing anything else.
Do you consider it a safety issue to be directing all this traffic, including HGVs and buses through the busy beach area and driving by the childrens‘ playground at peak times during the summer?
Do you want to see The Roundabout removed?
Do you think that raising the levels at Lower Main Street will cause flooding on the street?
And if these raised crossings are in place are you satisfied that the floods similar to what we’ve seen a couple of mornings this very week will be able to flow freely to the sea without flooding the properties on the street?
Do we need speed restrictions on both approach roads to Ardmore at Ardmore NS and at Ardmore GAA Club?
These are just a few of the queries I have that may prompt you to make a submission on or some other query you have

Ardmore Waterford Winner Tidy Towns.
There is great jubilation in Ardmore as The Village retained it’s position as Waterford’s winner at The National Tidy Towns Award. We just about got there with just the minimum between us and runner’s up Stradbally who themselves had just a single point to spare over the ever improving Ballyacarberry in 3rd place.
Ardmore also proudly retained its Gold Medal. In the weeks to come I will share with you some of the adjudicators comments.

Green Meadow Transfer.
Sincere thanks to Declan Prendergast who cut the meadow in Holy Cross Cemetery and to John Tierney, Tommy Carlton and John Kearns who help gather and transfer it to The Round Tower Cemetery. Of course this would not be possible were it not for the wonderful preparatory work of Joe Callaghan and Willie Power at The Round Tower.
The idea is that the meadow at Holy Cross Cemetery is classified as a 6510 meadow which is a slow growing light meadow of native grasses and wild flowers. By transferring this immediately to a prepared patch of the Round Tower we hope that over time the slower growing and light grass will grow there too.

Brilliant County Final Win for Ardmore Ladies.
Newly reformed Ardmore LGFA enjoyed a wonderful first season and capped it off with a Junior C County Title following a thrilling victory over a gallant St Anne’s side at Dungarvan Club Grounds last Sunday.
This game was nip and tuck all the way with Ardmore enjoying the majority of possession but St Anne’s were more efficient with their sporadic attacks. Hence a rather fortuitous goal from a great Laura Miller delivery was the key score in the match. All the Ardmore girls that saw action excelled and a special mention too for the unused subs all of whom trained diligently through the year and enoyed great fun and craic. Some of the girls were very young and some shall we say ‘more experienced’. For the record the full panel, which included 7 sets of sisters, was as follows: Sarah Foley; Rachel Flavin, Neasa Keevers (capt), Sally Ann Gleeson; Laura Miller, Meadbh Kiernan, Emily Hennessy; Lizzie Prendergast & Tricia Power; Amy Power, Annalisa Lynch, Kate Hennessy; Laoise Keevers, Grainne Kiernan & Rachel Murray. Subs: Lily Hallahan, Ciara Walsh, Sarah O’Connell, Marie Stilwell, Aoife Broderick, Sarah Murray, Laura Lynch, Niamh Power, Amelie Tobin, Mary Kate Keevers, Ella Beausang, Mary Sarkunaite, Julianna Tierney, Sarah Miller, Brenda Griffin,

Ardmore Energy Management Plan .
The public meeting at Ardmore GAA Club on Wednesday night was a really interesting experience where the Galway based Celtic Dynamics presented an Energy Management Plan for Ardmore and Grange.
During last winter and spring they conducted a survey of energy usage in a some local homes, businesses, farms and community buildings and they also harvested all the available data on our parish from the CSO from which they presented some very interesting facts and information giving us a clearer picture of where energy is being used today
