This week marks seven years working with Amber Domestic Abuse Organisation.
I have had the privilege of working as Project Lead on One Million Stars Ireland, being part of work that is deeply meaningful, supporting
awareness, connection and action around DSGBV while helping to create spaces where people can come together, learn and make a difference.
I’m incredibly proud of the conversations, connections and collaborations that have come from this work, and especially grateful to the many people, groups, organisations and communities who have supported by holding star weave workshops or hosting awareness raising exhibitions.
Seven years has brought challenges, learning, friendships, creativity. I am grateful to my colleagues and board of management at Amber for their support.
I have included a lovely note from my Amber manager Lisa Morris which means a lot to me.
‘”’Happy anniversary, Thank you for all you have done over those 7 years. When you look back where you started off working as a relief worker at the refuge and to where you are now. What an achievement in everything you have built through OMS, Happy Anniversary, thanks for everything.” 📸 First stars woven in Ireland on December 10th 2019, International Day of Human Rights. The One Million Stars Ireland movement has now collectively woven 522,000 stars. 📸 Recent showcase at the European Parliament. Lisa Morris Manager at Amber, Kathleen Funchion 📸 Stella Couglan who has been volunteering with the project for 7 years 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Each star represents a visual petition against DSGBV on the Island of Ireland.

What a wonderful Culture Night Kilkenny with Amber, domestic abuse organisation and Kilkenny Arts Office at Rothe House and Gardens. Thank you to all the people who came to weave a star in solidarity against DSGBV.
We had a lovely evening of creativity and connection in a wonderful venue. Thank you our volunteer Stella Couglan for giving up her time to teach others the craft of star weaving.
