“It was quite an emotional experience to see it being built before our eyes”, said Kells Men's Shed chairman Seamus McDonagh, who had worked for this moment for many years.

Kells Mens Shed won the brand new steel shed in a competition sponsored by Wexford based manufacturers Adman Steel Sheds

The members watched with anticipation as the Adman company arrived in Kells, with four trucks and eight workmen, to construct the steel shed which will be their new workshop. From 8am to 2pm Adman construction workers worked to erect the 40 x 26 shed on the green field site adjacent to Riverside housing estate.

We are very grateful for the contribution from the Construction Industry Federation

Yesterday, M&ECA President Joanne Cluxton was pleased to present donations on behalf of MEBSCA and ECA to their chosen charities, at the CIF offices.

The donations were made to Merchants Quay Ireland (MEBSCA's nominated charity) and Men's Shed (ECA's nominated charity), two organisations carrying out exceptional work to support people and communities across Ireland.

We are delighted to play a small part in supporting these worthy causes and commend them for the positive impact they make every day.

⚽ MEN UNITED — More than football

Men United is a free 12-week programme at SETU Arena, specially designed for men who have finished treatment for non metastatic prostate cancer.

Worried you’re too old, not fit enough or haven’t played football in years? You don’t need football experience. Activities are adapted to suit the men taking part, with time to meet others, enjoy a chat and be part of a team.

If you’re concerned about safety, please speak with us. The team will discuss your health and explain the GP clearance needed before starting.

Sessions last an hour and take place on Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings.

“Everyone in here has their own skills, whether they were chippies, or lads doing construction, or metal work, and everyone teaches everyone how to do things. That’s a huge part of the Men’s Sheds; they are teaching sheds. I work in hospitality, for example, so I didn’t know how to use an electric chop saw. Now I do.
