Congratulations to last year’s recipients, Muireann Meade, who was awarded the inaugural scholarship (see our previous social media post)

Thank You to Róisín Ní Chonchúir, previous recipient in 2023, who spoke with us at the National Ploughing Championship last September about how the scholarship aided her.

Five years, countless steps, and an incredible community coming together in memory of Ashling. 🌹

On July 12th, Anthony Walsh and the Community of Inchaboy gathered at Loch Cutra, Gort, Co. Galway, for their annual 8km walk in Ashling’s memory.

Blessed with beautiful weather, the morning ended with breakfast in the sunshine and an amazing €1,400 raised for the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund, with the same amount also being raised for Clare Haven Services

We are forever grateful to Anthony for organising this special event each year, and to the Inchaboy community for their continued support, generosity and kindness.

🌹Ashling Murphy Memorial Entrance Scholarship🌹
Congratulations to Muireann Meade, the 2025 recipient of the Ashling Murphy Memorial Entrance Scholarship for the Bachelor of Education programme at Mary Immaculate College (MIC).

A talented uilleann piper from Templemore, Co. Tipperary, Muireann was jointly awarded a €4,000 bursary by Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) to support her first year of study. We wish Muireann the very best of luck as she journeys to become a primary school teacher.

✨ Applications are now open for the 2026/27 Ashling Murphy Memorial Entrance Scholarship for incoming undergraduate students.

🇺🇸Date for the Diaries:

The Offaly Society of New York are hosting their annual golf outing this year on Friday, August 28th. The committee have kindly selected the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund as the beneficiary of the majority of proceeds raised again this year in Ashling’s memory.

Taking place this Sunday, July 12th 🚴‍♀️🚶‍♀️
📍 Loch Cutra, Galway

🌹Inchaboy Run for Ashling

On Sunday, July 12th, a walk, run or cycle in memory of Ashling will take place in Inchaboy, Gort, Co. Galway.
All ages are welcome to join the memorial event which will start at Loch Cutra.

€10 entry fee on the day. Proceeds raised will be split between the memorial fund and Clare Haven Services.

All support appreciated.

Many thanks to Anthony for his continued support in remembering Ashling by organising this event every year and to those who volunteer their time to facilitate the event also.

Today we remember the life of Ashling on what would have been her 28th birthday ~ her fifth heavenly birthday away from those who loved her, and who continue to love and miss her so dearly.

Though Ashling is no longer with us, her memory lives on, and her legacy endures in the countless lives she touched during her short but remarkable time with us and in those she will continue to inspire in the years ahead.

We remember Ashling for her love of music, her unwavering dedication to teaching and learning, her kindness, her generous spirit, her radiant smile and much more 🤍

Though she may be gone, there is comfort in knowing that her light still shines in the hearts of those she loved, and in the many lives her legacy continues to uplift 🌹
