We were delighted to support many schools across the country during the last academic year, including Tullamore Educate Together NS and Presentation Mullingar, who were recently in touch to share an update 💚

With the support of the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund, these schools purchased musical instruments for their students, enabling them to continue promoting Irish music, song and dance, while also helping to honour Ashling’s legacy.

As one teacher noted: “The creative lives of students will be enriched for many years to come” due to funding received.

We wish all the pupils and teachers the very best of luck for the year ahead and hope they continue to enjoy making music, creating and performing together. 🎶💚

Last weekend was a particularly special one where a community came together to remember Ashling, with John Healy completing his 26th marathon of 2026 in her hometown of Tullamore, while Sacred Heart Secondary School launched their AstroTurf fundraising campaign for “Páirc Ashling.”

In January, John took on the incredible challenge of running 26 marathons in 2026 in Ashling’s memory and in aid of the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund. By September 20th, John set off on completing his 26th marathon starting at the Murphy Household at 9am. John was led by Ashling’s father, Ray, and followed by committee members, Freda and Martin by motorcycle to the Sacred Heart School (SHS), Tullamore by 10.20am where he completed his final marathon. John ran approximately 101 laps of the SHS track alongside running club friends and students who joined him in relays, finally crossing the finish line at 1.30pm.

What John has undertaken this year is truly remarkable: running 26 marathons in 2026, covering over 1,000 kilometres!!
But what makes his undertaking even more meaningful is the way he carried Ashling’s name and her legacy with him every step of the way.
Wearing her jersey at every marathon, he has brought Ashling’s memory all across Ireland and further afield to London and Arizona.
Every time John put on that jersey and took to the starting line, he was doing more than running a marathon, he was carrying Ashling’s story, her name, and everything she stood for into communities far beyond our own.
He has helped ensure that people remember her and that her legacy continues to inspire others, while also raising vital funds through the generosity of so many people.
We are truly grateful to John for his kindness and dedication to this challenge.
Thanks to all who supported John along the way and to the Sacred Heart School Parents Association who made a generous donation in lieu of John’s fundraiser towards the memorial fund.

The day also marked the launch of “Páirc Ashling,” an AstroTurf pitch fundraising campaign with a target of €220,000. Sacred Heart School held a special place in Ashling’s life, where she spent six years learning, growing and creating lasting memories.

We know what a positive difference “Páirc Ashling” would make to the school & wider community. This pitch would not only provide students with a space to play, to develop their skills, to build friendships, and to experience the many benefits of sport and physical activity but as Ashling’s dad, Ray, noted in his addressing speech at the launch “…it will provide a safer place for women to exercise”.

We are delighted to stand alongside Sacred Heart School and wish them every success in making Páirc Ashling a reality. We believe Ashling would be incredibly proud.
