Tralee Rotary esteemed member Risteárd Pearse took time out of his recent holiday in Lesotho Southern Africa to visit Maseru rotary club and our global grant project in Maputsoe run by Kerry’s Action Lesotho. Risteárd visited a Special Needs School run by the Disability Federation. Photos include Action Lesotho unit for Textile Training and the beautiful Lesotho market garden project which was in full bloom
The Market Garden Project spearheaded by Tralee man Paul Hanrahan is designed to help poverty-stricken families in Lesotho who have access to small plots of land—at least 42 square meters—a sustainable source for food production & income generation.
Through this initiative, Maseru Rotary Club, in conjunction with local expert partners, have trained participants in essential horticultural skills, enabling them to grow food for their families and develop small businesses by selling surplus produce.
Action Lesotho plays a key role in the project’s sustainability, utilising its large greenhouse facility capable of producing up to 130,000 seedlings annually

What Rotary Stands For

At Rotary, our work is guided by five core values: Service, Fellowship, Integrity, Diversity and Leadership.

❕ These principles shape how we act, how we collaborate, and how we serve our community here in Tralee.

🔘 Service — putting the needs of others first.
🔘 Fellowship — building genuine connections.
🔘 Integrity — acting with honesty and responsibility.
🔘 Diversity — welcoming different backgrounds and perspectives.
🔘 Leadership — leading through action, not titles.

These values are the foundation of everything we do — from local initiatives to long-term projects that support our community.

We were delighted to welcome Ms Helen O’Carroll, Curator of the Kerry Museum 🏛️,
to our recent Rotary meeting in Tralee.

Ms O’Carroll shared fascinating insights into the archaeological dig west of Tralee, bringing local history to life and reminding us how much there still is to discover right on our doorstep.

Meetings like this are at the heart of Rotary — a space where community comes together around ideas and a deeper understanding of our town and its history.

Stay connected with Rotary Club of Tralee for more updates from our meetings and community work 💛
