With a strong emphasis on the “World” in World Wetlands Day, this event brings together voices from across the globe.

They are thrilled to welcome both Eva Ford, Catchment Officer with the Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee in Queensland, Australia, and Dr. Trish Murphy of the Inishowen Rivers Trust in Donegal.

This engaging discussion will explore river rehabilitation, community action, accessing support, and building meaningful connections with local waterbodies.

Join us on Monday, 2 February 2026 at Tralee Bay Wetlands Ecology Park as we celebrate World Wetlands Day with a full day of free, nature-based experiences for all ages.

✨ What’s On (Timings as scheduled):

🦆 10:30am – Bird Watching with Ed Carty
💧 11:30am – LAWPRO Projects with Bláthnaid O’Loughlin, Community Water Officer
🌱 12:00pm – Wetlands Talk with Ger Scollard, Irish Wildlife Trust
🥾 2:00pm – Marsh Walk with Senior Ecologist Alan Balfe, Tralee Bay Wetlands Ecology Park
🎋 3:00pm – Wetlands Willow Creation Workshop with Philip McSweeney, River Dog Studios

🌿 Together, these events celebrate the heritage, biodiversity and living wisdom of wetlands, inviting everyone to reconnect with the landscapes that support both nature and culture.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organised and have the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as individually. This will be a part-time position of 20 hours per week and will have the advantage of working from home.
