The National Biodiversity Data Centre is pleased to launch the Asian Hornet Reporter โ€“ a new system for reporting sightings of Asian Hornet in Ireland.

๐Ÿ”— https://invasives.ie/asianhornet/report/

๐Ÿ—ฃ๐Ÿ“ข Please share with your network

You can report a suspected Asian hornet sighting directly via:
๐Ÿ’ปYour web browser (Quickest)
๐Ÿ“ฑMobile App - Download the ARCGIS Survey123 App (Best Experience)

๐Ÿ“ทA photograph is required to verify all reports of Asian Hornet. Photographs allow the National Biodiversity Data Centre to verify that the species sighted is an Asian Hornet, as many native species can look very similar.

Why it matters:
A highly efficient predator of native insects, the Asian hornet (Vespa Velutina) poses a serious threat to honeybees and other pollinators.

Originally from Asia, this invasive species was accidentally introduced to France in 2004, where it spread rapidly into neighbouring countries. Several sightings have been confirmed from Ireland, but the species is not established here.

We now need your help to watch and report this invasive species.
