It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our club member and former chairman, Justin Brosnan. We offer our deepest sympathies to his family, to Justin Jnr, Julie and Laurie Lee and to his sister June (Fitzgerald).

Justin learned his football in The Spa N.S. and at The Sem in Killarney before winning a Novice Championship with the club in 1972. He later managed the Senior team to a county final in 1985. Probably the highlight, and certainly his proudest managerial achievement, was winning the County U14 Féile in 2000 and guiding the team to an All-Ireland quarter-final.

Justin served as Chairman of the club for over 20 years. During his tenure, he initiated fundraising activities such as club quizzes, weekly card games and the Club Lotto, which is still going strong today. He was a great supporter of Scór and, during his term, the club enjoyed success at county and national level. Justin also promoted social activities between GAA clubs, organising a Centenary Tournament involving clubs from Cork and Clare. He established links with Éire Óg in Carlow, Sallins in Kildare and Cabra in Dublin. These clubs exchanged visits on an annual basis and Cabra still make the yearly trip to Churchill each year.

Justin was also a dedicated community activist, contributing to the establishment of The Forge in Churchill and the Tralee–Fenit Greenway.

As a club member, he supported the construction of the Community Centre in the 1970s and, more recently, lent his support to the further development of the centre and pitch in The Spa.

Justin’s contribution to the club over many decades was immense and will never be forgotten.
