Fantastic to see a new Community Alert group being established on Arranmore Island - well done to all involved 👏

The Arranmore Community Alert Scheme was officially launched today.

Community Alert is a community-based programme, facilitated by Muintir na Tíre that will encourage neighbours to work together with An Garda Síochána to help make the island a safer place for everyone. The initiative promotes vigilance, crime prevention, and community awareness, while also encouraging residents to look out for one another, particularly older people and those who may be vulnerable or living alone.

A special word of thanks to John Mc Cafferty (CFFAM Manager) for bringing this initiative to fruition. Thank you also to Muintir Na Tire for their ongoing support and to all who helped in any way.

Signage will be erected in each townland in the coming weeks.

(L - R) Garda Richie Quigley, Ruan Reynolds (CFFAM), Elaine Boyle (Coiste CFFAM), Anne Proctor (Coiste CFFAM), Sergeant Kevin Mc Gettigan.

COMMUNITY ALERT IN ACTION

A great day in Templederry at their Property Branding and Cairde Registration Event.

Today provided an opportunity for residents to:

🚫 Avail of property branding as a practical crime prevention measure, helping to deter theft and assist in the recovery of stolen property. It was clearly a sought after initiative with a constant line of trailers full of tools queuing to get their turn all afternoon.

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Register with and on the Cairde App which strengthens local communication and connection.

A sincere thank you to Ned and Leanne who assisted over the course of the day, to everyone who attended, to the volunteers and organisers and to all those who continue to play an active role in making Templederry a safer, stronger and more connected community.

Working together to build safer communities.

KILCONLY COMMUNITY COMEBACK

There was a great buzz in the small rural village of Kilconly, Co. Galway, on Friday last as the group there hosted its first event.

Well over 200 people attended throughout the afternoon, including public representatives, local school children, families, older members of the community, volunteers, and neighbours from across Galway and beyond.

A huge thank you to the over 40 organisations, agencies and support services who gave their time to provide free advice, health checks, information and support on everything from , and health and wellbeing.

The event, organised by Muintir na Tíre Community Alert Development Officer, Gerard Costello, in partnership with Kilconly Community Alert Group and An Garda Síochána, truly showcased the power of community spirit and connection.

It was especially wonderful to recognise the outstanding contributions of Richard (Richie) Byrne and Sonny O'Brien who have given so generously of their time and knowledge to their communities over the years.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, volunteered and helped to make the day such a success.
