🎉 Happy 80th Birthday to Michael O’Brien! 🎉
80 years young and still becoming more capable and dynamic with each passing day.
An early adopter of the Men’s Shed movement, Michael was a founding member and dedicated leader of Silvermines Men’s Shed, serving from 2017 to 2024.
Michael’s commitment, energy, and belief in the value of the Shed have left a lasting impact—not just in the Mines with its thriving Shed, but also across the wider regional Shed network. Michael has always been generous to other Sheds with his time, support, and his famous nuggets of wisdom. One that comes to mind was in 2024 when, as he handed over leadership of SMS, Michael shared the words “rotate or stagnate”—a simple but powerful reminder of the importance of renewal, growth, and shared responsibility.
Here’s to celebrating a remarkable man, his contributions, and the inspiration he continues to provide.
🎂 Wishing you a fantastic 80th birthday Michael and many more great years ahead!
👏🍰🎈

🌱 Great work by Ballina Killaloe Men’s Shed during their Biodiversity and Community Gardening workshops with Sean O’Farrell 👏

There’s been fantastic progress installing planters made from recycled materials around the village, highlighting a strong commitment to sustainability and reuse. It’s especially encouraging to see the local community getting involved in installing the flower boxes, bringing colour, life, and biodiversity into shared spaces 🌸

A great example of community spirit, teamwork, and environmental action in practice. Well done to everyone involved!

Thanks to NTDC Leader for co-ordinating and funding the workshops and to Healthy Ireland Tipperary for providing the Grow Kit voucher.

Thurles Men's Shed had the privilege of participating in the inaugural Market at the new Market Quarter located in the Cathedral Town.
The facility is a multi million euro development and caters for over 30 stalls in a permanent covered Marquee.Additionally there is an information hub and a Cafe in the main building.
The day was attended by a huge crowd bringing a great energy to the town centre.
The Shed was the only community group allocated a stall and it was a great opportunity to showcase the craftsmanship of the members and generate interest in the 'Shed Project' amongst the community.
