Cnoc na Teamhrach(Hill of Tara)
Cnoc na Teamhrach is a hill and ancient ceremonial and burial site in County Meath. The hill was the inauguration place and seat of the High Kings of Ireland. The site consists of numerous monuments and earthworks dating form the Neolithic to the Iron Age. There is a passage tomb ''Mound of the Hostages'' burial mounds round enclosures, a standing stone believed to the ''Lia Fail'' or ''Stone of Destiny'' and a ceremonial avenue. During the rebellion of 1798 United Irishmen formed a camp on the hill but were attacked and defeated by British Troops on 26 May 1798 and the ''Lia Fail'' was allegedly moved to commerate the 400 rebels who died on the hill that day.

Malahide castle tour
Malahide castle and gardens is on 250 acres of parkland in the seaside town of Malahide in County Dublin. The magnificent medieval castle has a dramatic 800 year heritage. Generations of the Talbot family have called Malahide Castle home.
The butterfly house is paradice of butterflys with over 20 species of exotic butterflies flutter and dancing around visitors to the house.
The BOTANIC GARDEN with 5000 plants is a tranquil retreat where we spent a lot time just wandering around and enjoying the peace and aroumas of nature and then on to the enchanting FAIRY TRAIL where your imagination was let loose.
All thoroughly enjoyed our day and lunch in Malahide Castle and Go raibh mile maith agat to Mick Kelly or organising the trip.

Swords Mens Shed AGM
The SMS agm was held on 29 april and was attended by a large number of members. After Chairmans, Secretarys and financial report were all adopted the committee was re-elected with the exception of Don Kenny who due to work commitments was not available. Our thanks to Don for all his work during the year. The committee for the next year is Ray Tancred (chairman), Joe McNamara (tresurer), Jack Thompson (secetary), John Carton, Joe Flecher, Sean O'Connor and newely elected to the committee Michael Walsh.
On behalf of all the lads in the shed I say Go raibh mile Maith agat to you for all the grief, hassle and hard work you put in and Very Well done in the last year wishing you all the very best in the coming year.

TITANIC / BELFAST TRIP
Titanic the largest luxury vessell afloat at the time was owned by White Star sank on its maiden voyage to New York on 15th April 1912 with the loss of 1500 lives, another ship also owned by White Start the Tayleur also sank on its maiden voyage in 1854 off the coast of ireland.
Thanks to Mick, John and David for organising the tickets and tour of Belfast and a most pleasant end of the tour in the Crown Bar Snug.......... a brialliant day out for the Shed.
ps we dont know the new member Jack and John recruited on the bow of the titanic......

Bridge table for SMS
A new bridge table or rather a piece of beautiful art was created David De Roeck, Michael Walsh, Rory Downey and Bert Pugh for the enjoyment of the game of bridge and other card games in the Swords Mens Shed.
A hugh thank you to the lads in the workshop.

Martin Godfrey
It is with great sadness that Swords Men's Shed heard of the death of one of our members, Martin Godfrey was one of the founders of the shed band Next Level and played a hugh part in the development of music in the shed. He passed away on Sunday 21st Dec after a courageous battle with motor neuron disease, To his wife Jenny and his family we extend our condolances.
