The club is organising cardiac screening for all members aged 12 upwards. Cost is €80. The club will subsidise €40 for ages 12 to 21. It will take place on Friday 4 December from 4.30pm in Saint Mary’s Hall and it will take about 20 minutes for each person.

Ballinamore Athletic Club has resumed training on Tuesday and Thursday at 7 00.p.m. New members born in 2018 or earlier are enrolled each evening. Training will be indoors in the newly reconstructed Sports Hall and outdoors under lights on the adjacent St Felim's playing area. The County Cross Country Championships take place in St Felim's on Saturday next at 2.00.p.m. with entries taken at the Sports Hall from 1.30.p.m. The events are Under 9 (born 2018), 11,13,15,17 and Senior and there are team and individual prizes. Members enrolled before Saturday at 2.00 p.m. can take part.

Seamus McAveety Tractor Run
The recent Seamus McAveety Tractor Run raised €12,258.00 for Travel2Care Irish Cancer Society. A cheque was presented to the Irish Cancer Society this week. Many thanks to everyone who took part and donated to this worthy cause.

A Cavan theatre company’s new production will be performed in six traditional pub settings across the county this autumn, beginning at F.W. Traynor’s in Shercock on September 24 before travelling to Redhills, Mountnugent, Canningstown, Swanlinbar and, finally, Jenny’s in Mullagh on October 3.

The Cavan Way is a 26 km gentle linear walking route that progresses from the village of Dowra northwards by country paths and quiet roads to reach the magical Shannon Pot, where the great river rises.

The route then ascends from the Shannon source into the limestone karst landscape of the northern Cuilcaghs before descending to the village of Blacklion. The terrain consists of mainly quiet roads, paths beside the infant Shannon and open moorland.

The road sections at the beginning and near the Shannon Pot can be very busy, and the Shannon and uplands sections can be very wet and mucky. The views from the heights out over Lough MacNean to the north and the Cuilcagh to the south are wonderful. The total aggregate ascent on the route is 330 metres, including two short, steep ascents. There are options for overnight accommodation at both ends of the route. , , , ,
