World Refugee Day 2026

Today, the Immigrant Council of Ireland stands in solidarity with people who have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety, dignity and opportunity.

Every refugee story is one of resilience, courage and hope. Yet too many continue to face barriers to protection, belonging and inclusion.

This World Refugee Day, we reaffirm our commitment to an Ireland where everyone can live free from discrimination, rebuild their lives, and feel welcomed in their communities.

We are delighted to be part of the Erasmus+ project Access-Action: Empowering Inclusive Youth Work in Bursa.

Day 1 focused on inclusion, accessibility, participation, advocacy, and building connections across cultures. We are proud to represent Aremoja Women’s Network Sligo, and to learn new tools that will help us create more inclusive opportunities for young people, migrants, refugees, and diverse communities.

Together, we are building a future where everyone has a voice and belongs.
