National Cairn Community Games 2026- SETU Carlow

What an exciting day we had in Carlow on Saturday for the All Ireland Cairn Community Games Athletics Track & Field.

We had 20 athletes from Skerries who started this journey back in Skerries Rugby Club in May. They made it through their town, county, province and into the All Irelands which is something they should all be very proud of.

Our 10 individual athletes who all shone brightly โญ๏ธ
๐Ÿ”นIn the field events, we had 3 throwers; รine in Ball Throw, Caoimhe in Discus and Ruby in Javelin. All had fantastic throws with PB's. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘
๐Ÿ”นIn the middle distance we had Dion in 600m and Aisling in the 800m. Both came through their heats and made it to the final placing very well with Dion 9th and Aisling 5th๐Ÿ‘
๐Ÿ”นIn the sprints, we had great success. Max in his first year under 14, got a 4th place medal in the final of the 80m hurdles after coming through the rounds๐Ÿฅ‰๐Ÿ‘
We had 4 runners in the 200m. Kaleb made it to the semi final, narrowly missing a place in the final๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ.
Hannah and Luka both got brilliant 3rd place bronze medals in the under 14 200m๐Ÿฅ‰๐Ÿฅ‰๐Ÿ‘.
Then Fiadh in her first year under 16 won a national silver for 2nd! ๐Ÿฅˆ๐Ÿ‘
A huge achievement for these athletes after training during the summer with the sprint coaches of Skerries Athletic Club under the leadership of Ailรญs McSweeney.

Our 4 relay teams also lead by Ailรญs were very impressive with all 4 teams making it through the rounds and into National finals ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

๐Ÿ‰National Cairn Community Games Rugby 7โ€™s

We were very proud to have both girls and boys rugby teams make it all the way to the All Irelandโ€™s last Saturday in Gormanston College.

The boys were up first and unfortunately, narrowly lost the semi final to the eventual winners by a score. Boys played really well and and ended up with a fantastic bronze ๐Ÿฅ‰

Girls were brilliant and got through to the final, just losing out on the win, they went home with fantastic silver medals ๐Ÿฅˆ

Thank you to Barry and Garrett for taking charge of the teams. Skerries Rugby Club has a great history down the years of taking part in Community Games and weโ€™re delighted to keep that tradition going. ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‘๏ฟผ
