You know what's the saddest sight in the world? An empty campsite ... .
After a hearty breakfast, we started packing and taking down our tents. Then we inspected the lawn, and... we still had an hour to play "Mafia."
We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to our two leaders, Robin and Willow. This was their debut as leaders at group camp, a debut they performed flawlessly! Serving with you was a pure pleasure!

This is how we had fun last night.

It had been a long day... Right after breakfast, we made sandwiches, packed small backpacks, and set off. Our first stop was Curaghchase Forest Park—over 300 hectares of expansive parkland, trails, mixed forests, lakes, and an arboretum. This carefully landscaped area was the former residence of the de Vere family, the most famous of whom was Sir Aubrey de Vere, poet and writer. Our next stop was Stonehall Wildfire Park, which has been granted zoo status and is now licensed by the Department of Arts and Heritage and the Gaeltacht. Its mission is to help conserve wildlife, native flora and fauna, and provide education. The final chord of our trip was returning to the campsite—in total, we walked over 11 kilometers today. Next up was... making and eating pizza. It was fun, creative, and delicious!!! As befits Scouts, we ended the day by the campfire. It had been a truly long day ... .

Night one done and dusted! All campers are happy and well 😊
We got ourselves set up, did some eclipse watching, and played some group games!

This evening, our Cub Scouts had the opportunity to brush up on their orienteering skills. All six of them performed admirably, reading the map and finding their waypoints.

Today, our Cub Scouts participated in a first aid class organized by the Shannon Community Partnership. The focus of the session was cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and what to do in the event of choking.

Today, our Cub Scouts set off on their TrailJam hike. The route followed the tracks and paths of Cratloe Forest and concluded with a communal cookout on Trangia stoves. All participants also received beautiful packages from the organizers in Canada.
TRAILJAM is the successor to Jamboree on the Trail, a day that encourages Scouts and Guides from around the world to hike. TRAILJAM, like JOTT, traditionally takes place on the second Saturday in May.
