FUNDRAISING CHURCH GATE COLLECTION IN RAHARA

ROSCOMMON SPCA (Registered Charity No: 20206904 - CHY 18790)

Currently at this time of the year our financial resources are running low and yet there has been a significant increase in the amount of injured and sick animals in desperate need of our assistance.

The Roscommon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Roscommon SPCA) is run completely by Volunteers who give up their free
time to fundraise and work tirelessly each weekend to gather enough funds to cover upcoming costly vet bills.

Our Fundraising Church Gate Collection will take place in RAHARA at The Church of Mary Immaculate on Sunday 6th September 2026.

Your kind support is very much needed and appreciated with ALL money donations collected on the day going directly to animal welfare in Co.
Roscommon.

It was wonderful to get an insight into the history of Roscommon Castle last week with a tour from Dr Kieran O Conor for Heritage Week.

This was a rare opportunity to get to see the castle from a different viewpoint, with thanks to the local landowners surrounding the site.

It was great to be able to chat to Clare Doyle, Co. Archivist, at Archives Evening last week in Roscommon Libraries and Archives, where they launched their Archives webpage.

There were some interesting documents relating to Dr. Douglas Hyde on exhibit in the Local Studies room for all to see.

A very interesting presentation was held in Roscommon Libraries and Archives last Thursday entitled "If Fields Could Talk - Collecting Roscommon's Field Names" presented by Rita Kearney, researcher & project co-ordinator.

Local historian Anne Coyne also gave a very informative presentation on the field names collected in the townland of Tremane.
