🌺 Our beautiful, colourful flowers at the Rahara Cemetery parking area are back. These are held in place by fabulous brackets made by our local metal fabricator Simon Moran. They really brighten up the space.

A big thank you to Mulveys Garden Centre for creating these displays & for all their invaluable advice. We are so lucky to have this fantastic garden centre on our door step 🌸🌼🌿

A little reminder that the compost bins in Rahara Cemetery are for compostable materials only.

Unfortunately, plastic items are regularly being placed in these bins despite clear signage showing what can and cannot be composted.

Please take home oasis, plastic wreaths, wire frames, artificial flowers, and any other non-compostable materials. These items cannot be processed in the compost bins and contaminate the compost.

Your cooperation helps us keep the cemetery tidy. Thank you for your support.

Photo of some of the items removed by our volunteers.

A big thank you to our dynamic duo who have been hard at work around the village this week. Armed with brushes, elbow grease, and a power washer, they gave our village signs and recycling bins a much-needed clean and refresh 💦🧹🚸♻️

Rahara Tidy Towns were delighted to visit Rahara National School last week during National Biodiversity Week.

🦔 We donated a Hedgehog Hotel to the school with a cool sign Óstán Gráinneog so all the hedgehogs know where to go 😉

🎃 We also explained how we saved our pumpkin seeds last year, dried them & stored them. We planted some recently & donated these to the school garden. Each pupil also received our pumpkin seeds to grow at home.

🌱 We chatted about food miles and the importance of growing your own food locally. To help them get started, we created a simple leaflet for every pupil explaining how to grow their pumpkins and how to save the seeds again after Halloween.

🐦Over the next few weeks, the pupils will also take part in a bird survey for us. Last year, we donated bird nest boxes to each pupil, so it was lovely to hear them say they are now noticing more birds visiting their gardens.

🍫 And of course, no visit would be complete without a few goodies for the pupils.

Grass will be cut in Rahara village from around 10:30 this morning. Please take care driving through the village around that time.

Rahara Community Clean-Up 🧹🌸🦺

Rahara Tidy Towns village clean-up will take place on Monday 25th May from 6:30pm, meeting outside Rahara Old Church (beside Rahara N.S.). Light refreshments will follow. New members welcome. Even if you can only spare an hour, it would make a big difference.

Tidy Towns judging will start from 1st June, so we really need to try to get the last few jobs done this week.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

🐝 Busy Bee in Rahara 🐝

National Biodiversity Week is a great reminder that even the smallest wildflowers, like dandelions, play an important role in supporting our pollinators. 🌼🌱
