The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) is a charity and membership based organisation. We work to support adults with unmet literacy, numeracy and digital literacy needs to take part fully in society and to have access to learning opportunities that meet their needs. NALA does this by raising awareness of the importance of literacy, doing research

and sharing good practice, providing online learning courses, providing a tutoring service and by lobbying for further investment to improve adult literacy, numeracy and digital literacy skills.

- Introduction to Integrating Literacy is the first of two modules in NALA’s Integrating Literacy online course. It delves deeper into NALA’s integrating literacy guidelines and provides you with a range of useful templates, resources. ▪️If you are unemployed or outside the labour force, you are more likely to have literacy or numeracy needs.

▪️1 in 5 workers in Ireland have numeracy needs, and 1 in 6 have literacy needs – these rates are higher still in some areas. For example, in transportation and storage more than 1 in 3 workers have literacy and numeracy needs.

▪️Literacy and numeracy needs are associated with low income.
