The Butterfly Club

The Butterfly Club To provide Leisure activities in a safe, fun filled environment for children with special needs while providing respite for parents/guardians.

https://thebutterflyclub.ie The Butterfly Club opened its doors in rathkeale and later in Abbeyfeale in september 2004 as a follow on to the special olympics. It is a social club for children with special needs and caters for children from age 3. It is a totally voluntary run club. Our mission statement is: " To provide leisure activities in a safe, fun filled environment for children with special

needs while providing respite for Parents/Guardians." The butterfly club is now in its 9th year, has 61 children attending the club, 50 adult volunteers and 20 student volunteers. Our season runs from September to June finishing with a summer camp in july. We are always looking for volunteers, open to both male and female - so if you can spare a saturday afternoon once a month we would love to hear from you. Training will be provided and garda clearance check organised.

🦋A huge thank you to our incredible student volunteer Leah 👏💙

Leah recently organised and ran a non-uniform day fundraiser in her school, , raising vital funds for The Butterfly Club. Desmond College is also where one of our members, James, attends — making this gesture even more special

Although Leah missed the original cheque presentation at school, we were delighted to celebrate her efforts again at the club, surrounded by the children and families she supports.

Leah is an outstanding volunteer. She shows such kindness, patience, and natural ability with our children. She is a true credit to her school and has such a bright future ahead 🌟

💙🦋 Fundraiser Weekend Launch 🦋💙

We were delighted to join the Askeaton community for the launch of a very special Fundraiser Weekend from 9th - 12th April in support of The Butterfly Club, Bumbleance, and the purchase of a community defibrillator.

This fundraiser is being held in loving memory of Jack O’Donoghue, who sadly passed away last year following a motorbike accident. Jack is deeply missed, and this weekend will be a wonderful way for the community to honour his memory while supporting causes that make a real difference in people’s lives.

A huge thank you to the incredible Askeaton community for organising and supporting this meaningful event. Your kindness, generosity, and community spirit truly show what can be achieved when people come together. 💛

We are so grateful to be one of the charities benefiting from this special weekend and look forward to sharing more updates as the fundraiser approaches.

🦋We’re still smiling after such a special day celebrating the launch of our brand-new website 💙🦋

We recently officially launched it in Rathkeale, where the incredible team generously created the website for us as part of their volunteer programme. Their time, talent and kindness have helped us build a platform that will make it easier for families and our community to connect with The Butterfly Club, learn about our services, donate to the cub and support children with additional needs in our community.

We are so grateful for the warm welcome, the hard work behind the scenes, and everyone who joined us to mark the occasion in Rathkeale.

It truly takes a village — and we’re lucky to have such amazing support 🦋
