We at Rathcormac & Castlelyons Community First Responders would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Bridevale Athletics Club for their very generous donation of a Vivest A1 AED to our responder group.

The continued support of our local community means so much to us. Donations like this help ensure that we have the essential equipment needed to respond and provide support to those in our community when it matters most. 🚑❤️

We were delighted to welcome members of Bridevale AC and our responder group for the presentation of the new AED.

We are incredibly grateful to the Club for their generosity and continued support. Together, we can help make our community a safer place.

Pictured is Bridevale AC Chairperson Terry Broderick presenting the equipment to Rosario Kielty, CFR and Bridevale AC member.

Thank you, Bridevale AC! 💚

🚑 How does a Community First Responder group work?

Ever wondered how Community First Responders (CFRs) help in our community?

Here’s a little insight! ❤️

The map below shows the area our CFR group can cover. The large circle shows our overall response area, while the smaller circles show where our responders are located. 📍

When a call comes in, our responders receive an alert on their phones. 📱 If we’re available, we can accept the call and make our way to the incident, often arriving before the National Ambulance Service.

Our scope of calls includes:

❤️ Cardiac arrest
🫀 Chest pain
🫁 Foreign body airway obstruction (choking)
🧠 Stroke
🤝 Reassurance and support

We attend these calls for both adults and children, providing early assistance within our training and scope of practice until the National Ambulance Service arrives. 🚑

🤝 We’re not alone!

There are also CFR groups in neighbouring areas who may be able to come to your assistance.

The National Ambulance Service Community Engagement Team has also developed a Roaming Responder app, meaning a CFR who happens to be passing through our village may receive the alert and be able to respond. 📱🚑

❤️ Want to join our team?

We’re always happy to welcome new members to our CFR family!

Status Report.

In the last 30 days we have responded to the following calls:

- 3 x Chest Pain

Just a reminder it's a voluntary service, no one is tied down to be on call - if we are around when a call comes in, we do our best to respond.

As a group we do not respond to all categories of emergency.

We fulfill our roles in Cardiac Arrest, Heart Attack and Stroke.

Many thanks to our community and your recent support in upgrading our equipment.

Thank You, Community ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our recent GoFundMe fundraiser. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised **€2,930**, which has allowed us to update our AED (Automated External Defibrillator) equipment and further strengthen our community’s emergency response.

We now have 3 additional AEDs amongst our Responders, bringing our total to 6 roaming AEDs, along with our 2 public-access defibrillators located at Behernagh/Kildinan and Curraghphlibbode.

Both public-access AEDs are registered with the National Ambulance Service. In an emergency, if our Responders are unavailable, the 999 call-taker can provide you with information on how to locate the nearest AED.

Here at Rathcormac & Castlelyons Community First Responders, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated. It means so much to see our local community come together and support us in helping to keep our neighbours, families and friends safe.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to **Flashpoint Medical Systems** for supplying our new equipment.

And many thanks to Rathcormac Community Council & Castlelyons Parish for circulating our fundraiser on Facebook.

If you, your family, friends or community group would like to learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator, please drop us a message. These are skills that can make a lifesaving difference.

**Once again, thank you all for your generosity, kindness and continued support. We truly couldn’t do this without you. ❤️**
