Scotland was 'hoodwinked' by Donald Trump, says former aide

Donald Trump's claim he would invest £1bn in a golf resort was misleading, according to the man who helped broker the deal.

We are pleased to say that Donegal County Council is proposing to use satellite imagery to upgrade their maps of the Public Rights of Way in the new County Development Plan 2024-2030.

This gives us a very accurate record of the routes of the Public Rights of Way, many of which, like the one to Castlegoland Beach, have been recorded in Development Plans since the first plan 1967.

The inclusion of these new, improved maps in the Development Plan is a ‘Proposed Material Alteration’ and before being finally adopted by our Councillors there is a period of ‘Public Consultation’ until ***FRIDAY 5th APRIL***

As you can see the map showing the Public Right of Way to Castlegoland Beach is perfectly aligned with the route that has been used on the ground. It is important to let the County Council know that you agree with it, particularly as we know that there are some who are resisting the existence of the Public Right of Way at all.

Save Our Beach Supporters and all others in favour of the finality and clarity that these maps bring to the Development Plan can send an email endorsing the proposal to:

[email protected] you have until FRIDAY 5th APRIL at 4.30pm (there is no fee for making a submission)

The Public Right of Way to Castlegoland Beach must be retained in the County Development Plan because this is the ONLY route by which the public can access this beach. It is also vital that a vehicular Right of Way to Castlegoland Beach is upheld because people with limited mobility, families with small children etc., all need vehicular access.

As you know the Public Right of Way runs along the boundary of Narin and Portnoo Links and it is perfectly reasonable for this right of way to co-exist with the golf links as it has done for over a hundred years. Links courses all over the country have public rights of way through them to the shoreline and there are many examples of golf courses with roads and footpaths in County Donegal.

To keep this wonderful amenity open for the community, visitors and the general public send an email today.

Last Saturday at Narin Strand, it felt like summer had arrived early. Many people enjoying walks on both Naran and Castlegoland beach with the access now restored. A farmer successfully moving sheep from Inishkeel island to the mainland at low tide, insuring safe passage for the flock. (see first comment).

White Strand (or Ardlougher Strand) is an even more secluded and remote beach at the far end of Castlegoland Beach.

The only way to get to this marvellous, sandy beach is via Castlegoland Beach Public Right of Way. Access to the Public Right of Way has been made much easier by the removal of the roller which was blocking the entrance.
