Today we welcomed 5th and 6th classes to the centre to have a cuppa and a chat with our seniors. They heard all about what life was like for them growing up. The boys and girls then had a tour around the Thatching School and got to see the thatchers in action. There was even time for a go on the swings before they headed back to school!

💘💝Happy Valentines day to all our wonderful friends! We were treated to a beautiful meal yesterday (and always) for our Valentine's Day celebration followed by some amazing music from Texas Ollie 🎶. At home time everyone was presented with a delicious homemade cupcake 🧁! 🥰🥰

THANK YOU! Thank you to everyone single person who donated to our annual New Year's Day Swim, this money helps us so much!

A total of €3152.07 was raised from the 2026 New Year's Day Swim 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️ A massive THANK YOU to everyone who took part in this year's swim; to those who donated, to all those who took part in the swim, the bucket collectors and to the coast guard. A total of €3152.07 was raised 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️ with the total amount divided and going directly to the Downstrands Family Resource Centre Counselling Service, the Rosbeg & Downstrands Care of the Aged and the Dolmen Centre Narin Rosbeg Portnoo Community Co-Op. Your continued support is truly appreciated. Thank you 💙

Interested in Walking Football? ⚽️🚶‍♂️⚽️🚶‍♂️ Age & Opportunity, in partnership with Downstrands Family Resource Centre and supported by Sport Ireland are hosting a 5-week Walking Football Initiative which is free for all participants and aimed at getting men over 50 more physically active.

All sessions are delivered by a qualified Walking Football coach. All abilities are welcome, no prior experience required.

Start Date: Thursday 22nd January

Time: 7:30pm

Location: Downstrands FRC Dolmen Centre

Happy New Year! May 2026 be good to you all! A big well done to all those who braved the elements for the annual New Year's Day Swim. It was a particularly cold one! Thank you to all who donated, to the crew from Killybegs Coast Guard for keeping everyone safe and to all the bucket collectors! Same time, same place, next year!!

🔈First Responders Information Evening on Wednesday 22nd October at 7pm 🔈

We are currently seeking individuals to form a life saving community first responders group for the wider narin, portnoo and rosbeg area. if you or someone you know are interested in joining a community first responder group, please come join us on the night. Fully certified training with professional trainers will be provided for group members at a later date. This training will be free of charge to members.
