Portlaoise Toastmasters

Portlaoise Toastmasters Portlaoise Toastmasters is a non-profit educational club helping people with public speaking and leadership skills.

Meetings are held on 2nd and 4th Monday of every month from September to June at 8pm in Kavanagh's Bar, Portlaoise (R32 EP2K). Toastmasters International now comprises more than 280,000 members in 13,000 clubs in 116 countries around the world, from Pittsburgh to Pretoria, Perth to Portlaoise. Learn public speaking/communication and leadership skills in a friendly and supportive environment with P

ortlaoise Toastmasters. Our meeting venue, Kavanagh’s Bar & Venue, Main Street, Portlaoise R32EP2K is easy to reach, just a few minutes from Junction 16 off the M7 Motorway. New and prospective members are always welcome. Guests are invited to attend their first two meetings free of charge.

🤝The penultimate meeting of the year was small but mighty, with energy, enthusiasm and of course enjoyment!⁣
⁣
🎤 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐎' 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐚 delivered a high quality presentation using a sideshow to detail her public relations plan. This in turn was wonderfully evaluated by 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐲. ⁣

📝 A review of our meeting from 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐲.

🎤 A really enjoyable meeting in which we were treated to three top class speeches from 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐧, 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐎 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐬. They were in turn provided with brilliant evaluations from 𝐀𝐧𝐧 𝐃𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐧, 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐎'𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐤𝐞.

✨️Huge congrats to 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐎' 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐚 who was awarded the 𝐺𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑙𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑂'𝐿𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑙𝑖𝑛 award. Irene delivered a masterclass in speaking for over 15 minutes and superbly managed an unruly audience as part of her speech objectives. Well done Irene!👏

🏆 Portlaoise Toastmasters recognises the brilliant effort our members make at meetings. The Geraldine O'Loughlin Award is presented by the General Evaluator to a member who has contributed meaningfully to a meeting.

💫 Mary Killeen was presented the award by Steve O'Rourke at our meeting on Monday 27th April. Mary is a longstanding and highly valued member of Portlaoise Toastmasters. Well done Mary!

💫 Eoghan Martin was presented the award by Robin Evans at our meeting on Monday 11th May. Eoghan delivered his ice breaker speech at the meeting and is a new member of our club this year. Congrats Eoghan!

▫️And finally the 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘌𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳 on the night was 𝐉𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐭𝐳𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤. Jimmy provided an excellent review of the meeting, focusing in particular on parliamentary procedure (which of course is fundamental to a well run meeting).

🌟 What a brilliant day it was at the Live Well Expo. It was fantastic to introduce our wonderful club to people in County Laois and beyond!
