31st Waterford Scout Group Hi why not like our page! This is the Facebook home page of Faithlegg and Crooke Scout Group, 31st Waterford based in Passage East Co. Waterford.

Funded by Department of Rural and Community Development The 31st Waterford is a large scout group in county Waterford serving Faithlegg, Cheekpoint, Crooke, Passage East and surrounding areas. We have three youth sections Beavers (6-8), Cubs (9-11), Scouts (12-15) Venturers (15-18) and as always a willing contingent of Scouters/Scout Leaders (18+)

In the near future we hope to open a Rover Scout

(18-21) section. Faithlegg and Crooke Scout group is a member of Scouting Ireland:

Scouting Ireland is a voluntary, non-formal outdoor-centric educational movement for young people. It is independent, non-political, open to all without distinction of origin, race, creed or gender, in accordance with the purpose, principles and method outlined by founder Robert Baden-Powell

Almost 3% of the 750,000 people between the ages of 6 and 18 in Ireland, are members of Scouting Ireland; thats over 22,000 individuals!!!In addition there are over 10,000 adult members leaders and scouting continues to be the largest and fastest growing youth movement on the island of Ireland.

Great to see some of our brilliant scouts included on this post by Eoin the Chief Scout at Scouting Ireland Survivor in Limerick recently.

After leaving Derry I was off to Castleconnell in Limerick. It was strange for a Cork man to be in Limerick the eve of the Munster final but there was good reason - the BAS and the postponed Scout Survivor that were taking place there. It was lovely to be asked to address the new Scouters in on the course and great to see the Trainers in action, all doing a great job.

It was then into the woods where the scout patrols were taking part in the Survivor event. There were Alpha, Beta and Delta teams from all over, cooking when I arrived. Kebabs and roast rabbit were the order of the day and everyone was again really enjoying themselves. Survivor is a great event, not one to be missed - thanks to all of the staff that make these events happen.

How often are Scouts shown simply as children and young people hiking? 🏕️
But how often do we see the countless volunteer hours behind every trip, meal, activity, and permit?

Scouting is like an iceberg. What’s visible is the adventure, the badges, the scarves, the smiles. What stays hidden is far greater: the dedication of volunteers and Scout leaders, teamwork and collaboration, conflict resolution, planning, training, and a strong educational method.

To the world, we wear our uniforms and enjoy the journey. Beneath the surface lie the skills, values, and commitment that make it all possible. They may not always be seen, but they are always there.
