We are deeply grateful for the dedicated efforts of the committee of No to Wind Turbines in the Old Leighlin & Coolcullen areas. While we in Old Leighlin Sustainable Energy Community supports wind energy, it should never come at the expense of a community’s wellbeing. Communities must be involved from the very beginning of any potential projects, and their interests should be the top priority at every stage. From a recent post we have learned how costly it can be to defend our community in the courts—an expense that shouldn’t fall on just a few shoulders. This is a community expense. We will be teaming up to brainstorm fundraising ideas and plan to contribute to the fund. Thank you again for your hard work and commitment. Keep up the great fight—we are all behind you.
We are truly overwhelmed by the support and encouraging comments we've received since launching our film. Many of you have asked about the costs involved in our journey and how much we've been able to cover through fundraising efforts. In the spirit of transparency, we want to update you on our current situation.
Since we started, our expenses have totaled just under €150,000. These costs include legal fees for our solicitor, Junior Barrister, and Senior Barrister, professional reports on audible noise, infrasound, and water, as well as production costs for our film, "Against the Goliath."
Thanks to your generous donations, our auction, our Christmas Party, bake sales, gig in Dinn Ri, and other fundraisers, we have raised nearly €70,000. However, this still leaves us with a shortfall of around €80,000.

Our community committee has dedicated thousands of hours to fighting against the industrial wind turbine developments, and the outstanding bills have been initially personally covered with loans taken out by committee members to ensure our case continues moving forward.
Now, we are asking for your help to bridge this gap. While the total amount might seem significant when divided among a few, together as a community, it’s a manageable burden. Every contribution, brings us closer to our goal.
