We are reaching out to the community to ask for your vigilance and support for Wild Flowers of Newmarket

🌸 Clonfert Cemetery: A May Haven for Wildlife and Wildflowers 🌿

A beautiful update from Clonfert this May! 📸 A huge thank you to Sheila O Sullivan for capturing and Eileen Lehane for sharing these lovely snapshots of the vibrant nature thriving in our local graveyard.

Here is a closer look at what is blooming and buzzing in Clonfert right now:

1) Clouds of Hawthorn: The Hawthorn hedges in Clonfert cemetery are still covered in stunning clouds of white blossoms. If you sit quietly, you can spot a flurry of activity, with blackbirds, robins, and wrens darting in and out of the branches. 🐦

2) The Resilient Cuckoo Flower: This delicate pale pink flower is growing happily right in Clonfert Graveyard. This is a fascinating find, as Cuckoo flowers generally prefer much wetter environments! It’s a very welcome resident, though, as it serves as the essential larval foodplant for the beautiful Orange-tip Butterfly. 🦋

3) Late Supper for a Bumblebee: Nature doesn't clock off early! Sheila also captured a busy bumblebee enjoying a well-deserved, late-evening supper among the blossoms. 🐝

Clonfert is looking beautiful, proving to be a peaceful sanctuary for both local heritage and native biodiversity. Keep an eye out for these wonderful sights next time you visit!

As the Summer days roll in, our wonderful Newmarket Knitting & Crochet Group is getting ready to take a well-deserved break for the summer season! 🧶☀️

Looking back on the year so far, we are incredibly our talented makers have accomplished. Take a look at these stunning, vibrant blankets that were lovingly handcrafted and delivered to The Blankets of Hope Cork earlier this year to bring warmth and comfort to those who need it most. 💜

But the hooks and needles haven't stopped just yet!

They are delighted to share that another special donation of beautiful blankets will be ready for delivery next month after they officially pause for the summer.

A massive, heartfelt THANK YOU to absolutely everyone who has donated yarn, supported our initiatives, or spent hours knitting and crocheting with us over the past few months. Your generosity makes a world of difference in our community and beyond.

Wishing all the members a beautiful Summer, and we look forward to seeing your creations again in the autumn! 🍂
