To all our friends in Britain and Northern Ireland and to the 277,000 British people living here in Ireland we express our condolences on the death of Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth was truly inspirational when she visited Ireland in 2011 and her words of wisdom, peace and reconciliation will be remembered for generations to come.

But it was her love of dogs and especially her Corgis, who were constantly at her side, that many will remember her for.

She got her first Corgi (Susan) in 1933 for her 18th birthday and bred them continuously until 2015 including a cross breed with a Daschund (a Dorgi 😀), owning and rearing over 30 during her reign.

To Elizabeth, Dog Lover, and Queen of United Kingdom, Rest in Peace

Congratulations to Athy Toastmasters Club on a great new location at Athy Golf Club.

The meeting place is just off the main bar and so the club's speeches and topics will be heard by those in the vicinity - and hopefully they will be enticed to join.

Athy meets 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm-9pm

It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of Marie Conlon.

Marie was a phenomenal Toastmaster. A member of Athy for over 6 years and recently also was a member of Newbridge and travelled to other clubs to give speeches and provide evaluations and no end of chat.

She was a source of great wisdom to many and provided great advice on speeches, evaluation and life in general.

But what Marie will be best remembered for is her unending work and dedication to Kildare Alzheimer's and her quest to build a permanent day centre to support Alzheimer patients in the greater Kildare area, raising over €100,000 so far and instrumental in finding a location in Kildangan that hopefully will open next year

An inspirational woman.

Rest in Peace Marie.
