While plastic cotton bud sticks were banned in Ireland under the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, many still are found washed up on Irish shores today - a real testament to the lasting power of single-use plastics! ๐ฎ
They primarily end up littering our coasts because they are flushed down the toilet, where they escape through wastewater treatment plants and float out to sea, polluting our waterways. ๐ฝ
A reminder that only the 3 P's (that's P*e, Poo and toilet Paper) should be flushed down the loo! ๐ง๐ฉ๐งป
