We wrapped up our classes on Monday by finishing our planting table, installing our waterbutt and even though we got new first aid boxes no injuries needed attending to as we got a loan of a special tool for breaking up pallets 🤣! Thanks Leon for our onions and red cabbage and Sean for his patience. We will meet Mondays and Thurs 11 to 1pm now during Nov and Dec just to connect and maintain our allotment patch. Well done ladies.

We hosted Denis and Enid from Wexford Local Development for a workshop on migrants in the community at tonight. We learned a lot & ran out of time as there was a good debate and many questions posed. Thanks Kathleen & Eileen for our teatime treats. We meet again for Halloween centerpieces on Oct 28th at 7.30pm sub €10 on the night, please whatsapp your name to Sinead if you are attending so we can prepare material packs.

Day two of and we completed our compost bay. Thanks Dermot Kehoes Homevalue for the pallets & Sean Wexford Local Development for the tips. We are learning so much together. On to making our planting tables next week.

We were delighted to join in a group talk up in New Ross Community Allotments today by Peter O Brien and Noel Bennett on Swift Bird boxes and the Wexford County Council swift survey with Bird Watch Ireland in New Ross. Teamwork by New Ross Tidy Towns, allotment group and ourselves will see 10 boxes made and installed around urban areas by Spring next year. Currently there are over 30 nests in buildings around our town.
Glad to play a part in the project.

We host a Migrants in our Community talk by Denis next Wed 14th Oct at 8pm in the Scout Hall, all are welcome. Wshed starts 7.30pm as normal.

Still getting juicy tomatoes from our plot and our allotment ladies got some of our saved spring flower seeds sown. The autumn sunshine was glorious this morning so we got more of our strawberry runners in the ground.

On Monday at 11am we will have a visit from Peter O Brien and Noel Bennett up to talk to us, mens shed, tidy towns and allotment holders about The Swift Survey and exploring making/installing and sites for same locally. It's week so our DIY monday group are hitting the nail on the head too by completing our compost & leaf bay area.

Some of our women made & street scapes with Zdenka Maksimova Vesela over the last two Tues mornings. Thanks to Women's Collective Ireland - Wexford for their ongoing support with tutors and WWETB Adult & Community Education for the space to work from. Some beautiful pieces of craft were produced and plenty of laughs in the making.

We've gone DIY mad. Putting our community tool box to use in New Ross Community Allotments today learning how to drill, cut and build. No fingers cut in the process 😅 and a new 3 bay compost bin and planting tables in the offing over the coming weeks. Hitting our action targets along the way. Wexford County Council

Thanks to our tutor Sean Wexford Local Development and Doireann /Enid for support. Major shout out to TJ for the pallets and Mens Shed for the off cuts to practice on.

Well there was definetly more talking than writing done but we made a start on our group stories project collecting some wisdoms from women to pass on. Thanks to our Maren for the direction & all who bought tickets. We will get to work 😃 Shout out to Eileen, Carmel and Caroline for the tarts, brownies and tea! Yummy. Congrats to all our raffle winners & our committee for organising.
