A fantastic tribute to a wonderful ambassador for ladies football. Sincerest sympathies to all his family and loved ones, particularly Caroline, Alan and their children who are dedicated members of our club. 🙏

Benny Fahy RIP

When reflecting on the development of Galway Ladies Football, many names deserve recognition. Among them is the late Benny Fahy, whose contribution through administration, leadership and development helped shape the game in Galway for generations to come.

Benny understood that the success Galway enjoyed in the early years of the new millennium “did not come overnight”, but was built on years of hard work, particularly at underage level.

In 1998, Benny was involved with the Galway U14 team that won the Connacht Championship. That success formed part of a pathway through U14, U16, Minor & Junior football, laying the foundations for Galway’s emergence as a senior force.

Benny served as Galway Ladies Football County Board Chairperson from 1999 until 2009, during a time when the club structure was developing, a new generation of players was emerging and Galway was establishing itself at senior level.

His contribution also extended to Connacht, where he served in a number of senior administrative positions before becoming President of Connacht Ladies Football in 2003 and continuing in that role in 2004.

His involvement with football continued across the years. His willingness to remain involved said much about his love for the game and his commitment to giving something back.

The Galway Ladies Football story contains many outstanding players and memorable moments, but behind every successful team are people who work quietly to make that success possible. Benny Fahy’s contribution belongs firmly in that story.

His legacy is not measured solely by the positions he held, but by the opportunities created for those who followed & by the enduring strength of the game he helped to build.

Galway Ladies Football owes Benny a lasting debt of gratitude.

We extend our sincere condolences to Benny’s family, relatives & friends at this sad time. May they take comfort in knowing that his contribution to Galway Ladies Football will be remembered with great respect & gratitude for many years to come.

🚨Champions🚨

Huge congratulations to our U15A team who were crowned county champions last night after a thrilling victory over Killannin in Loughgeorge, winning on a scoreline of 7-06 to 5-08. 🏆

This is a hugely important title for this group of lads as they prepare to make the step up to minor football next year.

Unfortunately, our second team were defeated by Annaghdown in their final. However, the majority of this group have another year at U15, and the valuable experience gained from playing in the competition this year will stand to them in the future.

A massive well done to the management teams of both squads for all their hard work, commitment and dedication throughout the year. 👏

🚨 U15 Finals 🚨

The U15 boys’ season comes to an end tomorrow night, and as a club, we are incredibly proud to have two teams competing in two finals.

This is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to the tremendous work and commitment of the players, management and coaches throughout the season.

Unfortunately, both finals are taking place at the same time in different venues. However, if you can, please get out and support one of the teams and give them the backing they deserve ❤️🩵

Best of luck to everyone
