Muiríosa Foundation provide a range of services and supports to persons with an intellectual disability (and their families) including residential services, respite, day services, education, and multidisciplinary supports. We were delighted to welcome the 'Our Place' exhibition to Muiríosa Foundation last month!

'Our Place' is a collaboration between artists AlanJames Burns and Sinéad McCann and Saint John of God, Liffey Services. Co-created with people with intellectual disabilities, the exhibition uses sound, visual and tactile artworks to explore themes of happiness, human rights and belonging.

The exhibition runs until 15 September, so there is still time for the people we support to experience it if they haven’t done so already!

Maura and Mary Rose had a great morning at the HIQA Residents’ Forum in Carlow on 24 August, representing their local advocacy group.

The event brought together residents’ forums and advocacy groups from across the region to connect, share achievements and learn from one another.

Maura and Mary Rose shared a video highlighting some of the wonderful things their advocacy group gets involved in. Maura introduced the video herself, and proved to be a natural on the microphone!

It was a lovely opportunity to meet people from other services, hear about the work of other advocacy groups and share ideas and experiences.

A big well done to Maura and Mary Rose for representing their group so brilliantly and for helping to amplify the voices of people we support! 👏

A fantastic achievement for Evan, who recently completed the Castlepollard 5K!

Evan had been training for the event each week, building up his running on the treadmill and out in the park, and all that preparation paid off when he took part in the Castlepollard 5K race.

Evan was also invited to join the local running club and train with them on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Well done Evan, on completing the 5K and on this exciting next step in your running journey!

Katelyn and Áine were delighted to take part in a Community Policing initiative with local Gardaí recently. 👮‍♀️

It was a great opportunity to learn more about community safety, meet members of An Garda Síochána and get involved in an important community activity.

Maura and Liz recently represented their advocacy groups during a visit to the Wayfinding Centre, accompanied by staff. They had the opportunity to explore and experience a range of everyday travel situations in a safe and supportive environment.

From road safety and pedestrian crossings to using buses, the Luas and trains, as well as navigating an airport and boarding a plane, the centre offers practical opportunities to learn about accessibility, safety and independent travel.

A big thank you to Eve Daly from the Wayfinding Centre for all her assistance and support during the visit.

A three-day Wellfest kicked off at The Link yesterday! 🌿

Day 1 included a meditation session, Sip & Paint and chair yoga, giving everyone the chance to relax and get creative.

A great start to three days of activities focused on wellbeing and connection. We’re looking forward to seeing what the rest of Wellfest brings!

Earlier this year, Sarah enjoyed a wonderful three-night holiday in Portugal. ☀️

Her favourite moments included relaxing on the hotel’s private beach, visiting the marina, shopping in Albufeira Old Town and watching the sunset by the sea.

A fabulous few days with lots of memories made along the way.
