A huge well done to Rory Corcoran from Offaly, on completing the incredible Mizen to Malin Head cycle on a tandem bike with his dad, Matt.

Rory and Matt took on this amazing challenge in aid of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, cycling from one end of Ireland to the other.

A very special moment came halfway through the journey in Co. Mayo, when Muiríosa staff were waiting at the roadside to cheer him on.

We are all so proud of Rory for this fantastic achievement.

Well done Rory and Matt! 👏🚴‍♂️

Today is Make Way Day!

Make Way Day is all about raising awareness of the everyday obstacles that can block the way for people with disabilities.

Cars parked on footpaths, bins left out, bicycles blocking paths, sandwich boards, tables and chairs can all make it harder for people to move safely and independently in their community.

At Muiríosa Foundation, we are supporting Make Way Day and encouraging everyone to help keep paths and public spaces clear.

Clear paths create equal access.

Ladies and gents from Friars Mill in Mullingar recently enjoyed a wonderful celebration to launch two important hand hygiene videos about when and how to wash your hands.

The videos star very talented people from the Friars Mill group, who did a fantastic job sharing clear and helpful messages about good hand hygiene. Theresa Sloan, Infection Prevention and Control Nurse, along with members of the Quality, Risk & Safety Team, were delighted to join the group for the launch party.

World Hand Hygiene Day takes place on 5th May each year, with hand hygiene promoted throughout the month of May. This launch was a great opportunity to learn, take part and celebrate good practice.

There was wonderful engagement, plenty of fun, and a lovely sense of pride in the finished videos. The videos will now be shared internally with people supported and staff to raise awareness of good hand hygiene.

The interviewing continues, with Rita recently joining a panel for Summer Student roles and bringing her own perspective to the process.

Rita asked questions that were important to her, helping the panel think about the qualities, approach and understanding needed to provide good support.

Her involvement shows the value of people we support taking up meaningful roles, being listened to and helping shape decisions that affect their lives and communities.

A great few days of celebration for Westmeath supporters 🏆

Peter was delighted to get a photo with the Delaney Cup following Westmeath’s historic Leinster Final win on Sunday. Peter is pictured here with John Heslin and Westmeath captain Ronan Wallace.

There was also great excitement at Billistown House in Delvin, where the window was decorated in the Westmeath colours to show support ahead of the big final.

A wonderful achievement for Westmeath and a very special few days for supporters across the county. Huge congratulations to the team!

Mary Rose recently sat on an interview panel for Summer Student roles with Regina and Peter, asking candidates her own questions about what matters in everyday life, including community access, shared routines and building connection.

Her contribution helped ensure candidates were considered in relation to the real lives, choices and needs of the people they may support.

Mary Rose said she really enjoyed being part of the panel and valued having her voice heard. Her involvement is a powerful reminder that people we support have an important role to play in decisions that affect their own lives and the lives of others.
