What a fantastic evening at September’s Business After Hours, proudly hosted by LWETB Further Education and Training ✨

It was wonderful to welcome members back after the summer break and see so many familiar and new faces come together once again.

The evening provided a great opportunity for members to connect, exchange ideas and build valuable relationships in such a welcoming atmosphere.

A sincere thank you to LWETB for their warm hospitality and for hosting such an engaging and successful evening. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the important work they do across our region 👏

A look back at the Athlone Business Awards 2026 Media Launch✨

Last Friday, we officially launched the Athlone Business Awards 2026 at the Radisson Blu Athlone, bringing together members of the local business community, sponsors and media to mark the beginning of this year’s awards journey.

It was a great opportunity to come together, celebrate the strength of our local business community and share what’s in store for the 2026 awards.

With 19 categories recognising businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals across Athlone and the surrounding area, we’re looking forward to seeing the incredible stories, achievements and successes that come forward this year.

✨Our Festival and Events Coordinator, Emily O’Callaghan Athlone Festivals and Events , attended the launch of Home of Halloween 2026 at the Hill of Uisneach on Monday afternoon, celebrating Ireland as the birthplace of Halloween.✨

The event featured a showcase of local food producers and presentations from Minister Peter Burke alongside representatives from Derry Halloween, Púca Festival, Tourism Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland and Fáilte Ireland. The discussions highlighted the opportunities for tourism, collaboration and celebrating Ireland’s rich Halloween heritage.

Continuing a productive visit to Brussels, our CEO, Tommy Hogan and our President, Regina Bushell, met with MEPs Sean Kelly and Barry Cowen to present our policy document.

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for a constructive discussion on key priorities including simplification, competitiveness, trade and early learning and childcare. It was encouraging to engage directly with our MEPs on the issues that matter most to businesses, communities and the future growth of our region.

We’re proud to ensure the voice of Athlone and the Midlands is represented at the European level.

Our CEO, Tommy Hogan and our President, Regina Bushell, are proudly flying the flag for Athlone and the Midlands in Brussels.

So far, they’ve had the opportunity to visit the European Parliament, where they received an insightful tour and a fascinating overview of how the European Union operates, along with a deeper understanding of the parliamentary process.

It’s been a valuable opportunity to learn, connect and represent our region on the European stage. We look forward to sharing more highlights from their visit over the coming days.
