The first EJC was held in 1978 in Brighton, UK hosting just 11 attendees. The largest ever recorded attendance at an EJC was in Munich, Germany in 2011 with 7,200 attendees enjoying the week-long convention. Ireland has a significant and rapidly growing community of enthusiastic jugglers. The first juggling convention in Ireland was held in 1999 with a group of 30 jugglers from the Republic and No

rthern Ireland. Today there are up to 7 conventions held each year in Dublin, Belfast, Tralee, Galway, Clonakilty, Tullamore and Birr which host up to 300 attendees. Ireland hosted the 29th EJC in 2006 attracting 2252 jugglers and circus artists. The 2006 EJC, held in Ireland attracted 709 Irish based circus artists comprising over 30% of the overall attendance. People from more than 32 other countries attended the 2006 Irish-hosted convention displaying the breadth of international experience attracted to such an event.
