Creative Mind and Motion, an arts project for people living with dementia in West Cork, will celebrate participants’ work with an exhibition at Bantry Library from Saturday 10th October for two weeks.

Led by Jonathan Cairns and supported by Gemma Casey, the project created a welcoming Creative Studio at the Westlodge Hotel in Bantry, moving away from a traditional clinical setting.

A Meet the Makers afternoon will also take place at Bridge Street Community Café in Bantry on Tuesday 20th October from 2pm to 3pm, featuring Guest Speakers, Jonathan Cairns, Vanessa Bradbury, Sarah Cairns and Anne O’Donovan. This will be followed by a visit to the exhibition at Bantry Library.

Tutor Jonathan Cairns, with 12 years’ specialist dementia care experience, will introduce the project, followed by Vanessa Bradbury, Dementia Adviser with The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland and Dementia Educator, and Sarah Cairns, Dementia Activities Coordinator, Dementia and Communication Educator and Training Consultant, with a brief presentation on dementia awareness.
Anne O’Donovan of Citizens Information will then signpost available supports.

The event is organised by the West Cork Dementia Inclusive Project as part of the West Cork Feel Good Festival.

Dementia Awareness Workshops in West Cork!

As part of the West Cork Dementia Inclusive Project, Dementia Awareness Workshops are being facilitated by Sarah Cairns, Dementia & Communication Educator and Training Consultant and Vanessa Bradbury, Dementia Advisor, The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.

Bantry:
13th and 20th October
