HERITAGE WEEK 15 – 23 AUGUST – WHAT’S ON IN MALAHIDE
National Heritage Week is the national celebration of all things heritage and historic. This years theme is ‘Heritage at Risk’ which encourages us to explore the built, natural and cultural aspects of our heritage that are endangered, for us to reimagine and revive these sites, artefacts and practices. HOUSEKEEPING PAST AND PRESENT - BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR OF MALAHIDE CASTLE – 20 August - Enjoy a rare behind the scenes tour of Malahide Castle exploring the origins of housekeeping in the early modern period, through huge innovation in the 18th and 19th centuries right up to the present day. The tour will cover the modern conservation standards that keep the building and precious collection in good condition while also celebrating the hard work and professional insight of the many domestic servants who spent their lives working here.
