We support children, families and childcare services with the transition from home to pre-school and participation in pre-school service. The Tús Nua project was established in November 2011 as one of the 11 projects around the country funded by NEYAI (National Early Years Access Initiative). We will work to support both families and childcare services in 12 catchment areas in Longford and Westmea
th. We will support both childcare services and Families in a number of different ways;
Families:
Support parents to access the free ECCE pre-school year for children between the age 3years 2 months and four years 7 months in the September of that year. Support young children’s transitions from home to pre-school. Support Visits with families to determine the best and most appropriate service for their child. Activity and information sessions for parents focusing on Play, Learning & Interactions. Services:
Provide advice, support and training for childcare services under the National Quality Framework, Síolta and the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework, Aistear, with particular focus on Environments, Identity and Belonging, Parents and Family, Transitions. The Tús Nua Project strives to support more families to avail of the free pre-school year for their children in Longford and Westmeath. Attending a high quality pre-school service enables children to improve their social, emotional and cognitive skills and provides an excellent foundation for learning now and into the future
