🐐🌿 An innovative approach to trail management on the Ardmore Cliff Walk!
A fantastic example of innovative, community-led trail and landscape management is taking place on the Ardmore Cliff Walk, thanks to the work of Ardmore Tidy Towns.
Their goat-grazing project uses a natural approach to help manage the spread of common gorse along sections of the cliff walk. Following successful pilot grazing projects over recent summers, Ardmore Tidy Towns have invested in their own fencing and goats, allowing grazing to take place for longer periods and in different locations along the trail.
This is a really interesting approach to biodiversity improvement and outdoor recreation management. Keeping vegetation under control can help maintain the character, accessibility and enjoyment of the cliff walk, while using grazing as a more natural form of landscape management.
It is also a great example of how local communities can play such an important role in caring for and maintaining our outdoor recreation assets. 👏
