Sharing on behalf of our neighbouring club Ennis and District Gun Dog Club who are running an Open Stake Retriever Trial in Co Clare on Sunday 1st February 2026. Fantastic ground for Retrievers and we are all looking forward to probably one of the last Retriever Trials of the 2025/26 season.

What an absolutely fantastic day had by all at Dalcassian Gun Dog Club's Open Stake Retriever Trial in Co Limerick. Massive thank you to Pat O Connell, Liam Bresnan, Michael Hayes and all involved in making today's trial a very memorable one, from dawn till close to dusk we got to witness some outstanding dog work. Thank you to our team at Dalcassian Gun Dog Club for their dedicated work in making this trial happen.
Thank you to our two judges Michael Corr and Oliver McMahon for their time today and for giving all competitors equal opportunity. Congratulations to all award winners and thank you to all competitors for travelling and competing.
We are looking forward to next season already!!

Dear Section Two Competitors

We have emailed a schedule and entry form for our next Retriever Trial, which will be held on Friday the 16th of January 2026.

We are looking forward to another enjoyable day in the field with our Retrievers!

Yesterday we ran one of our annual Field Trials for Retrievers in the beautiful countryside of Co Clare. Massive thank you to all involved in making yesterday a great success especially our spaniel man Mr James Casey who worked his pair of hard working spaniels all day for our team of marksmen who did brilliantly throughout the day and thank you to the judges for their time and for giving all dogs and handlers excellent opportunity to showcase their abilities. Thank you to the shoot owner for their invitation to the club and their superb organisation and presentation for this walk up trial and thank you for all their hours of work behind the scenes that goes into welcoming clubs onto their fabulous grounds. Thank you again to all involved and thank you to the competitors for travelling and entering and a massive congratulations to the three dogs that finished the trial. Results are as follows!

Good evening, everyone, especially Irish Retriever handlers. There will be an opportunity for you and your dog to try out for an Irish Retriever Team in the coming month or so......An Irish Retriever Team will be selected through a selection test to go and compete at a top International Working Team Test in Europe early April.......more information will be sent out to all Irish Handlers in the coming weeks!!

We would like to hear from handlers who would enjoy spending a couple of days in Europe competing at a top international working test.

Another fantastic 16 Dog Retriever Trial ran today on Illaunmore by Dalcassian Gun Dog Club. Massive thank you to the owner Michael Mahnke and the keeper Michael Minehan and his team of spaniels handled by John Keeshan and Pat Greene, and the two top helpers Charlie and Robbie for putting on a superb Trial for all the competitors. Thank you to the team of marksmen who put plenty of retrieves on the floor for the three judges Declan McCarthy, Ian Davis and Kyle Harney to test all dogs running. Well done to all involved in today's trial especially Willie Forde who stepped in to help with the running of the event. It was a lovely atmosphere in beautiful weather and congratulations to all the dogs that completed the five rounds of retrieves and finished the trial. Results as follows,

3rd Sean Kearney with FTCH Kelmarsky Ash.

Dalcassian Gun Dog Club have a full card for our Retriever Trial on this Sunday 2nd February 2025 in Co Clare. Our secretary has sent out messages to all who sent in their entries with the correct fee attached and were successful in the draw. We are all looking forward to a good day on Sunday and we know and appreciate the amount of hard work behind the scenes the Gamekeeper is doing over the last few days clearing tracks etc after the damage from Storm Eowyn to make our trial possible.
