+ariLimerick Feral Cats is a registered charity that supports Limerick h+communities and individuals who wish to help feral cats in their area, primarily through TNR - the trap, neuter and return of feral cats to their home location. We only move feral cats to farm homes if they are in danger.. Limerick Feral Cats want to bring together and coordinate people like us who live around Limerick and wh

o are already doing something similar. Together we can raise awareness of the plight of feral cats living amongst us here in Limerick. One of our core aims is to promote TNR as a humane, effective solution to feral cat over-population. Our TNR programs require fundraising, volunteers to help do that are very much appreciated. Donations of money, time, transport and are most welcome. Our registered charity number is 20153687

Our poor Yogi bear had surgery today to remove a lump on his shoulder. He's 9 years old now. His brother Booboo passed away last year. The lump is being sent off to test it to see if it is malignant or benign. We also had blood tests done just in case. He's feeling very sorry for himself. He had on the cone of shame but he couldn't cope with it so we are trying the watermelon for now. Hopefully all will be well. Ella my nearly 19 year old cat is a bit freaked out by the strange smell and keeps hissing at him lol. He's like Ella what's your problem lol. A huge thank you to Donal and the staff City Vet Limerick for taking such great care of our chubby little man.

I just wanted to introduce you to one of our colony cats. This is a lot of our work. Luckily we have a lot of volunteers who help us to do this on a schedule. We all take a week at a time I call this lady Mamma Tortie but she has never been a mom. We tnrd this gorgeous girl when she was very young. She is one of the few in this colony to live this long. I remember trapping her in a crazy storm lol. We probably should have called her stormy because that's her personality too as it is with most torties. She absolutely loves chicken and we feed her some every day. She loves her colony family too and they all eat together. She's so funny. If she's not already at the feeding station and I call her she comes running like a leopard lol. That girl can run fast for some chicken lol. If anyone would like to contribute towards Mamma torties dinners you can do so via PayPal to [email protected]. just mention Mamma T in the note. I really like her spiciness. After so many years she still has it lol.

Our little chubster Marie was soaking up the sunshine. Isn't she adorable? Were your cats enjoying the sun today?

My supervisors while feeding one of the colonies. These are little boogers who call their friends the minute I get into the car. 🤣🤣🤣. I also bring a cheap can of food for them so they don't steal all the good stuff from the cats lol. They make me smile. I want to say MINE MINE MINE very loudly lol

Today is the last day to book on for reduced price neutering. It has to be completed in two weeks at the latest. Such a pity that the uptake was so low. Oh well

This is Lily. We tnrd Lily about 14 years ago. She was with a colony that got fed by a lovely carer named Andreas. Over the years we have kept in touch as we do with many of our carers. Sometimes we fed them when the carer was away etc. Over the years the others have passed away naturally. Lily is the last of her group. She has become tame but not friendly. She won't come into the house etc but if caught she will allow you to pick her up. A couple of months ago her carer Andreas, noticed that her ear was sore and bleeding. We brought her into the vet where she got antibiotics etc . Andreas was to watch this for a couple of weeks and then we would bring her back to have it checked. Nope Lily had other plans and decided she didn't want to go to the vet lol. Finally Andreas talked her into coming into her carrier. Because of Andreas schedule Lily as seen at limerick night vets. On Friday she had her surgery. Her ear was sorted. I don't want to show any graphic photos but it was cut back quite a bit because of the cancerous cells. She also had to have six teeth removed. She also has to wear a cone for ten days. Obviously if she had remained fully feral it would not have had such a positive outcome. She's not too happy being locked in a room in Andreas house and having to wear a cone but I think she knows that we are all doing what is best for her. Soon she will be back outside running through the gardens.
While we haven't been doing as much tnr as we used to, mainly because people haven't been contacting us, we are spending our funds for our now elderly ferals and ex ferals to make their lives as happy and healthy as possible. This is because their carers love them so much. They might now be cuddly and friendly but they are loved. Maybe you live for many more years Lily. Thanks so much to the staff at Limerick Night Vets for taking such good care of her. Thanks to Maria who we know well for doing the surgery and keeping us updated throughout the day.
