EDIT Well it seems the houses have been moved away from the location and over some wall. What people who know nothing about cats don't realize is that they are creatures of habit. They don't just go where they are sent lol. Hopefully they will not abandon the location and the houses. Thanks so much to Rebecca for the update. Hopefully it works out ok for the cats. I guess hidden behind the wall is better for the tourists.
We have gotten a message from some of the residents in Adare. It seems the colony that has lived there for years and are all neutered and well fed have been evicted. All of their kennels have been taken away by the council workers. Even the bloody bird and big houses have been taken away. Why you ask? Who knows. I'm guessing it's to make it look antiseptic for all of the maga Americans coming to visit for the Ryder cup. I mean seriously. They are even preventing the residents from the surrounding area from going into the village during the game. I mean who is this for? Are we all ass kissing rich people? Bowing down to American tourists, a country where in some states people can be arrested for feeding feral cats. Who is in charge? Who decided to evict all the poor cats who will now freeze during the winter. Who gets priority? Irish people or tourists or owners of hotels who don't pay tax in Ireland and are not residents? Shame on Adare. Imagine being so ignorant that you toss poor little creatures out to freeze for the winter so it " looks better". They are now putting down cement, great for the wildlife huh ?
I was absolutely disgusted when I heard. Lots of the village residents love them and feed them but I guess their opinions don't count even though they are the ones who pay for the upkeep of the village.
Shame on the council or whoever is responsible. Please contact your local councillor or the councillors in adare to see if this can be fixed. Are our cats supposed to end up like the cat in the photo freezing to death in one of the richest villages in Ireland?
