🌡️ TEMPERATURES COULD CLIMB TO 34C ON THURSDAY WITH A NEW HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD SET 🌡️
Thursday is projected to be the warmest day of 2026, and possibly the hottest ever recorded in Ireland, surpassing the current record of 33.3°C set in Kilkenny back in 1887.
The highest temperatures are expected in the west, midlands, and north, with Northern Ireland also potentially setting a new temperature record. Latest high-resolution models suggest we could see temperatures reaching 34°C, so I will be keeping an eye on the weather stations as the day progresses.
There's still a chance for thunderstorms, which could occur almost anywhere if the atmospheric conditions allow for it. The northwest appears to be a hotspot, especially in areas like Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, and Mayo, which may experience long-duration severe thunderstorms with frequent lightning.
For those wondering about the timing, storms could develop anytime from tomorrow afternoon into Friday morning. I think some storms will start forming in the northwest tomorrow evening and slowly move northward as they intensify.
