What a meeting we had every night!
Our Table Topics session sparkled with gold dust ✨from confessions about family life and remote controls, to playing bass clarinet in an army band, unexpected work opportunities in China and discovering how ChatGPT can be used to freak out your friends while on holiday! 😂
But the golden moments didn’t stop there. The evening was all about family, connection and the little things that matter.
We learned some important communication lessons from a 5year old and discovered that parent’s love can be described through many beautiful metaphors, including a Bouncy Castle
We were reminded of The Value of a Pause to cherish the simple pleasure of being present with our loved ones, and to rediscover the person behind the job title. As one teenager put it so beautifully: It is like Weekend every day because you are home. Priceless.
And we dug deeper into our own unconscious biases through the Picture This exercise, exploring why diversity and inclusion isn’t one person’s responsibility - it affects all of us.
An evening full of laughter, surprises, learning and heartfelt moments.
Definitely one for the golden memories! ✨

It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend, mentor and guiding light, Esther Penny.

This is a profound and irreplaceable loss for our Toastmasters family. Esther wasn’t just an extraordinary speaker; she was the very beating heart of our club. A person whose speeches made us smile, think and strive to be better, while her warm, insightful evaluations gave wings to so many new members starting out on their journey.

We’ll all cherish the memory of her kindness, her boundless generosity, her sharp wit and her readiness to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Esther had a rare gift for making everyone around her feel truly welcomed, heard and valued.

We are so deeply grateful for every meeting shared, every speech delivered and every lesson in courage and optimism she left with us.

On behalf of everyone at Lucan Toastmasters, we extend our most heartfelt condolences to Esther’s family, loved ones and all who held her dear.

Esther, you will always be remembered and forever missed.
Thank you for everything.
