The Moonlight Challenge, our annual fundraising event will be held on the 21st of November this year. Registration opens this Friday so start lining up your team! This is our biggest event of the year and is an absolutely vital part of our fundraising efforts, every penny raised goes directly towards maintaining our emergency search and rescue service.

Hopefully you'll be able to join us this year, we'd love to see you out on the hill and it's always a fun event.

Today at 14:10 we were tasked along with Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue to assist a man in his 60s who had sustained an injury to his leg while out hiking in the Fraughan Rock Glen below Lug na Coille. After being assessed and treated on scene by MR personnel he was airlifted by R116 Coastguard helicopter. The incident was stood down at 18:40.

We were delighted to host an IMRA event this week in our base. 125 runners took on the 8km course with all proceeds from the event going towards both our team and Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team rescue work. Thank you to all involved.

Barretstown Children's Charity House brings joy and magic to children with serious illnesses and their families, and it was a pleasure for the team to be part of the emergency services day there today.

Several team members travelled to Croagh Patrick over the weekend to assist with Reek Sunday. This is an annual event that brings mountain rescue teams together from all around the country. There were a few stretcher carries down off the mountain across the day.

All prayers were answered and Sam arrived back home today!

Half way through the year and we've been tasked 62 times, assisting 90 people so far.

We had two callouts last weekend, Saturday to assist a male hiker on Prince Williams seat and on Sunday to assist a lady who had injured her lower leg near Lough Ouler and had to be stretchered down to a waiting ambulance. Images are from Sundays call.

Then lastnight we were tasked to search for a male who was reported missing in the Wicklow gap area. He was located safe and well just after 9pm and escorted out of the wilds. Last image is our team mate Benny taking a well earned lie down after the search. It was still 24°c at 10pm lastnight and even with his cooling jacket on it was hot work.

This week in training we worked on stretcher management on steep ground.
