Welcome to Kinsale voices
Kinsale Voices is an aca****la choir (meaning we sing without musical accompaniment) open to all members of the community. Led by our professional Choir Director Patrick D’Alton, we learn a wide variety of songs in our weekly classes, from many sources and cultural backgrounds, occasionally sharing these songs with the wider community through performance to which we are c
ommitted to deliver to a high standard. We're inspired by world music, glorious harmonies and the sheer joy and freedom of group voices. Membership to the choir is open to all and current members come from a diverse range of nationalities and ages. However, it is important to note that we are a performance-focused choir. Due to this, we carry out an initial trial with all new members that takes place over the first three weeks, (ability to read music is NOT required). Over this time, both the new member and the musical director can decide if they feel the choir will suit them. As we are a performance-focused group, members are expected to show a high level of commitment to the choir and regular attendance is expected. The social and fun aspect of the choir is also important to us with regular out-of-class get togethers. The choir meets weekly in the clubhouse of Kinsale AFC Madden Park (near Charlesfort) and the cost per 1.5 hour class is €10. However, for those unwaged, students, pensioners etc there is a reduced fee of €8. NOTE: Due to the global pandemic, weekly classes moved online in 2020 for reduced duration and fee. The length of each term can vary from six to nine weeks with three terms per year. We usually pause classes completely during the summer months of july and august. Payment for the full term is appreciated up front but weekly payment can be accommodated.
