We are aware of a series of vitriolic posts on Facebook by a former tenant of IRD, targeting IRD Kiltimagh CLG and its staff. This campaign has been ongoing for the past month or so and is deliberately attempting to tarnish the reputation of IRD and those who have given years of service to the organisation and to the Kiltimagh Community.
The content of these posts is utter fabrication. The reality is very different. The posts are also slanderous and defamatory and will be dealt with as such.
The real detail of the circumstances surrounding this case will be released due course, when it is legally appropriate for us to do so.
For now, the real situation is accurately reflected by the saying "Never let a good deed go unpunished". The author of these posts was given a leg up when they needed it. Within a short time, they utterly abused the concessions given. Even after leaving, they refuse to move on and let us return the property to a livable condition in peace. If there was even an element of truth to their claims, there is a myriad of agencies that would be only too willing to help them get redress. The poster is not engaged with any of these agencies.
Regardless, we are actively engaged in the arduous, and at times disgusting, task of trying to return this property, to the pristine condition it was in, at the outset of the lease.
We are also engaged with the proper authorities in respect of these slanderous and defamatory posts, and those responsible for them will be fully held to account.
Social media is great when used factually and truthfully. Not so great when it's abused as is the case here. The full truth will come out in due course and for now, we are asking people not to share these posts or put any trust in their veracity.
