ittle did Fr.Stack,Johnny Mangan,Liam Foley and Fr.O Riordan realise that when they organised a Pantomime to raise funds for the CYMS in January 1958,that it would still be going strong 50 years later. Well, happily, such is the case. From its humble beginnings with “Snow White and the Seven Cromane Men” the pantomime tradition in Killorglin has grown and grown. Now,as we head for our 49th Panto,”Long

John Silver” in January 2012,a visit to the Panto in the CYMS has become firmly established as a “must do “ visit on the entertainment list of thousand of people annually. This is not confined to the local area, because over the years, the Killorglin Panto Group have staged the show all over Kerry, and have also been to Dublin and Cork.As well as that, the Panto has also been featured twice on RTE—in 1965 and 2003,and since 1992 has been one of the most successful box-office hits in Siamsa Tire,Tralee, where the Group perform three shows following a week’s run in Killorglin. Well the key is the enthusiasm, energy and fun the performers bring to rehearsals and to the stage. When this is combined with a good story, lively dance routines,a wide and varied selection of all types of music and an unbelievable ever -changing array of costumes which would do justice to the West End Musicals, you are guaranteed a great night’s entertainment at rock bottom prices. The fact that the entire group all give their services voluntarily means that expenditure is kept under tight control and each year the Group contribute thousand of euro to Charities, particularly St.Joseph’s Home,Killorglin. Rehearsals begin in October each years and the show usually is staged at the end of January.Newcomers are always welcome so if you are looking for a pleasant way to while away the Winter Months get in touch with us.If you want to experience a complete relaxed night of first class entertainment then make sure you come to see Killorglin’s Annual Pantomime.
