Learn more at http://letstalk.ie Youth Su***de Prevention Ireland [RCN20070670] was formed in November 2007 with the aim of providing specialist su***de awareness & prevention programmes for all the young people of Ireland who may be at risk of su***de or self-harm. We are also provide in-school programmes, visits as well as su***de awareness information and resources to voluntary organisations, t
eachers, lecturers, social workers, gardai and many other people who work regularly with young people. During 2020, even with COVID-19 restrictions our facilitators worked with over 7,500 secondary school students in around 40 new schools around the country through class visits before COVID-19 and then through Zoom. We are the only youth-orientated national su***de charity and we work just for young people up to 22 years of age. We provide and fund free :
* face to face workshops with 4th, 5th & 6th year students;
* mental health awareness and su***de prevention training courses for teachers, lecturers, coaches, youth workers, Gardai etc;
* education resources including lesson plans, teacher guidance and crisis support for schools;
* free to text information services & online support services;
* educational assessments including behavioural psychometrics;
* access to crisis counselling for emergency or at-risk young people. As you can imagine providing su***de awareness and prevention information directly to young people in a safe and supportive environment is critical to helping to reduce the frighteningly high rates of youth su***de in Ireland. With your help we can increase the number of talks that we are able to provide and bring this vital service to more schools, colleges and youth organisations. Through our awareness and prevention work all across the country we are able to provide resources for young people, their friends, families, teachers, coaches and many more concerned people so that they all have the vital information they need to detect the early signs of pre-suicidal behaviours and help prevent more young deaths. All the funds we raise this year will go towards funding our school programmes. Youth Su***de Prevention Ireland, a registered Irish Charity (20070670), is one of the only national charities working specifically to raise awareness and prevent su***de amongst the young people of Ireland. YSPI has only 2 full-time employees and all our other administrators including our Trustees are volunteers who donate their time. As of November 2021 the total cost of administering the charity was 13% so 87% of all funds raised can be used to support our vital work.
