What is art in the park? ART IN THE PARK is a new competition which is open to second level students. If the answer to this question is yes then we ask you to design and construct a three dimensional sculptural piece of art based on your own theme using a range of materials such as timber, concrete, stone, ceramic, mosaic, metal, organic, recycled or other. Individual schools or artists may submit an application for funding to pay artist fees, to the appropriate Arts Officer in their county. Who should enter? Our competition is primarily aimed at transition year but is open to all second level students. We would encourage students from any of the following classes; - art, metalwork, woodwork or construction studies, to independently or jointly create their own art piece. Key dates and Judges
Deadline for submission of written entries is 31st Oct. 2013. Finished art pieces need to be completed by the 31st March 2014 and be available for judging at your school from early April 2014. A panel of experts will judge the competition, and five pieces of art will be chosen from the entries. The winners will be announced by May 1st 2014. These pieces will be displayed in the 2014 'Art in the Park' garden located at Dun na Si Amenity and Heritage Park, Moate, Co. Westmeath for a period of three years. Prizes
A substantial prize fund will be divided between four sectional winners and one overall winner.
