Following the huge success of Paddy Hegarty’s recent guided walk in the Galtee Mountains, Paddy is organising another adventure — this time exploring the spectacular Coumshingaun area in the Comeragh Mountains.

Taking place on Saturday 30 May, the walk will follow a circuit of Coumshingaun, with an optional longer route taking in Crotty’s Lake and Cave for those looking for an extra challenge.

While this walk takes place outside the Ballyhoura region, we’re delighted to support and promote neighbouring mountain experiences across Munster Vales, encouraging people to explore more of the incredible landscapes on our doorstep.

If you’d like to join Paddy for this walk, you can contact him directly for details and booking:

What a day in the Galtees last Saturday with Paddy Hegarty of Active Walks Ireland 🙌

20 walkers joined Paddy for a fantastic day exploring Lough Diheen and Galty Mór, embracing the weather and the hike with great spirit throughout the day. There was plenty of fun, great company, and stunning views across the mountains along the way.

A huge thank you to Paddy for leading the walk and sharing his knowledge of the area, and also to Joe Ahern and Breda Noonan for helping to look after the group and making the day run so smoothly.

This was another brilliant day out as part of our Guided Walk Series with Local Mountain Guides.

Next up is the Castle Oliver & Ballyhoura Loop with Declan Clancy on Saturday 14 June — a scenic guided walk taking in Clovers Wood, Oliver’s Folly, Castle Oliver and panoramic views across the Ballyhoura landscape.

Rolling green fields, grazing cattle, and the majestic Galtees watching over it all 🌿⛰️

This is the kind of view that makes you slow down and take it all in. Captured in Glenbrohane on the edge of the Limerick/Cork border, it’s a beautiful reminder of the peaceful countryside, rich farmland, and stunning landscapes that make Ballyhoura Country so special.

Whether you’re exploring the Ballyhoura trails, taking the scenic route, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of rural Ireland, moments like this are never far away 💚

The great thing about this one is that there are two route options available:
• A full Galty Mór mountain hike for experienced walkers
• Or a shorter, easier option to Lough Diheen

So whether you’re looking for a proper mountain day or a more moderate hike, there’s an option to suit.
