The Patsy Furlong Foundation

The Patsy Furlong Foundation The Patsy Furlong Foundation is a registered charity founded in 2001 in Kildare to help needy people, particularly children in the 3rd World.

We are currently working in Nigeria in the City of Ilesa in Osun State which has a population of 190,000. Michael Reade decided in 1999 that he wanted to do voluntary work for the rest of his life as this was something that was burning inside him for a long time. The org was formed in 2001 along with some friends. Michael did a voluntary stint in Nigeria with an international NGO to find out the s

ituation there and to see if he could do something to help. Michael and friends purchased a house in the city of Ilesa in the county of Osun and they currently have two families with six children and two Mammies living there. They support them with food, education, medical needs and psychosocial. Recently, they have started a cooperative for seven women headed households and they are now trying to develop an agricultural project for to give them a sustainable income. Michael believes this is a small charity, that helps a small number of people but in a big way.
